The warlords of Afghanistan fled or surrendered to
the Taliban in 2001, and one of the first things
the regime did was to disarm the country?s
militias. Today, a new book published in
Afghanistan ? ?Bordering on Insanity? ? shows how
the country remains divided and fractured more than
a decade after the Taliban were overthrown.

The report, which has been compiled by leading
British and American military analysts, assesses
the state of armed forces across the country. It is
based on interviews with many of the country?s most
senior security officials, including Taliban
commanders, and the findings are shocking.
