OK, so Karen tells me that what this shelter really needs is non-clumping,
unscented clay cat litter. So I'm thinking, great - I'll just go online and
order some to be shipped directly there.

Easier said than done. So far I have checked Petsmart.com and
Petfooddirect.com, and it appears that it's not all that easy to find
non-clumping, unscented clay cat litter. It's been so long since I've used
any kind of clay litter that I don't even know which brands to look for.

So, does anyone know which brand(s) to look for, or better yet which web
sites sell the stuff?

petco.com has their pet gold brand, $2.49 for 10 lbs or $4.49 for 25 lbs. I was
thinking maybe kmart ot target or somesuch would carry it but they don't seem to
have it on their websites.

Beth,I only use the clay non-clumping, non-scented litter for my 4 kitties
and the absolutely best brand I've found is called Arm & Hammer Super Clay
(it comes in 21 lb. bags -- it really works well and does not seem to have
much dust and no odors (hurrah, as I hate perfumed cat litter, urk). I
suggest calling Arm & Hammer directly at 1-800-524-1328, as I believe the
company has done some background of contributing to charitable works. The
bag even has it's own website: http://www.superclay.com. Please post if
they do help. (And fyi, I purchase mine at the local Petsmart for $4.99/21
lb. bag)

Hi Beth,

WalMart has their own brand of non-clumping clay litter. It's
$2 for 25 pounds. Unfortunately, they don't sell it online.

Hope this helps some ...
Beth

The Arm & Hammer web site was one that I checked before posting this.
According to their site, their nonclumping clay litter is scented. They say
"ARM & HAMMER Super Clay is created from special clay that is lightweight,
highly absorbent and low in dust. We combined this clay with a
moisture-activated fragrance and a unique form of pure ARM & HAMMER Baking
Soda, the world's most proven deodorizer, to create our Extra Strength
Baking Soda Formula."

Nope. It's scented. I wasn't kidding when I said this wasn't easy. :-(

I did find out that Jonny Cat makes an unscented non-clumping clay litter.
But so far I haven't found an online source that sells it.

I know the pharmor up the street from me has some supercheap no-name brand, $2
for a 20 lb bag or somesuch. had to get some a while back to clean up a spill
in a parking lot. but I dunno where you could get it online.

Darn -- guess I've used it so long that I can't smell any scent anymore. It
is really good stuff though.

I was just going to say that. That's what my cats use. It actually has a
scent but it says it's unscented. Go figure. I'll go check the bag.
