There are many cases of dogs behaving strangely when their owner is
about to have a seizure, I believe some dogs are trained to react and
thus give their owner advance warning so they can get to a safe place
before the seizure starts

Other than that massive purrs on the way for you and Rob

(didn't want to clutter Pam's thread, but this subject is near to my
heart)

Leslie, it is really amazing. Most epilepsy patients don't have
special trained
dogs. Their pets just start doing it. Before a seizure, brain waves
just wack out.
The dogs either sense, or smell it. My nephews first rat terrier did
this. He would
actually run next door and get his parents. People usually don't have
any warning
before a seizure. The dogs can give them enough time to find a safe
place to lie down.

Of course, like you said, there are special trained dogs, too. I
interviewed a kid who'd
spent the summer at a research facility that is studying dogs' ability
to sniff/detect *cancer*
in humans. I know I keep using the same word, "amazing"....but it just
blows me away.

But as far as seizure-alert, if dogs can do it, so can cats. I think
that's especially true
of cats with such a strong bond with their families, like Rob & Pam's,
don't you think?
