Basho, my sweet baby boy has stopped eating. As you may remember, he
was diagnosed with CRF a few months ago and TED said he would likely
not make it to x-mas. She was right. It's time for me to give him the
ultimate gift of love, breaking my heart in the process. I'm calling
the mobile vet this morning to send Basho to the Rainbow Bridge, to
meet up with Quetzie and the rest of the rpca gang.
As I'm typing this, Basho is purring on my lap. I think he's telling
me it's ok to let him go. It's hard to see the screen through the
tears.
Good-bye my sweet Basho. I will miss you so much. Thank you for all
these years of devoted love and affection. I love you always. I'm
sorry you won't be able to join your brother Issa in our next
adventure, but I'm sure you'll be looking after us alongside Quetzie.

I am so very sorry, Victor. It is so hard to do, but it is often the most
loving gift we can give them.

Purrs to all of you. Basho will no doubt be welcomed at the Bridge by my
dear Cleopatra.

Purrs to you both, for Basho's gentlest of crossings, and for your
heart, Victor. Never easy, but the bravest thing you can do, and the
most loving.

Be a good boy for your Daddy when you're over there, Basho, and look
for my Fritzie and Dolly. They'll show you around. The catnip is
abundant and there are always sunbeams to lie in. Someday you and your
dear family will be together again and never have to leave one
another.

Blessed be,
Baha

I'm so sorry Victor. Keeping them eating with CRF can be impossible after a
while. I've done that so many times with my elderly dogs and with KFC. I
sometimes wonder if I should have sent them to RB when they were first
diagnosed, but I never did, I kept them going on posher and posher food for
ages, knowing the inevitability of CRF.
Would I do it again? Yes.
Purrs for your heart.

I'm so very sorry about Basho.

It is a sad fact that we are destined to outlive our feline companions,
who add so much to our lives.

I'm sure Basho will be happy to be at the Bridge, free of his illness,
and old age.

Sending purrs for your grief.
