I have been drawing a twig from an elderberry tree the last couple of
days, which had berries and leaves on. It was propped up at the precise
angle on the desk. Merlin had been trying to 'get close' to the twig
since I brought it in, reaching his little jaws out to try and chew on
its shoots and pluck its berries. Needless to say this is undesirable
for a still life, to have it eaten mid-sketch. Persistent, he's been
coming up for a cuddle and oh! suddenly seeing the twig there! Must have
a little taste.... Overnight the twig lay down on the desk and developed
a nasty break. Berries laying all around. Never mind, artwork nearly
done! So just now I have finished and emailed the art, Merlin comes up
for a cuddle and GRABS the twig in his teeth immediately, pauses for a
millisecond in triumph and runs away!! Twig Thief! He got it subdued on
the floor and tasted every part of it before crunching it in half and
then leaving it, thoroughly wrecked, on the floor.

It sounds to me as though Merlin was punishing the twig for daring to take
your attention away from him :^)

Sheenah.

LOL, there's nothing like forbidden fruit, especially if it's still on the
branch.

So sorry to hear about your still-life. I do hope you can get another one.
And while you're at it, why don't you get one for Merlin also, so he doesn't
have to steal that one too ;) Great story! Thanks!
Best wishes,
