Cats CAN and DO make noise when farting.
Weeble, when just a couple days old, and it was only the second time he
pooped for me. I thought he was done, and I had cleaned his bottom... and
then I smelled more poop... I looked at his behind and he farted IN MY FACE.
It was a tiny (but ultra-smelly) little "put".
Smokey does a "fweeeeeeeeeeeeee" sound sometimes when she's in the litter
box. I think of it as an advance warning system, and all cats should come
equipped with them, especially Ping, who's poop is so smelly, even he won't
stay in the litter box to burry it (he wants to get AWAY from that smell)!

I have found that during especially...ummm..."gassy" times, my
kitties--or even Loki the d*g surprisingly--don't care to sit on my
lap. Some of their expressions of dismay have been priceless.LOL

favorite example is Odessa's first visit to our vet. Odessa had had issues,
having been returned to the shelter several times, and at this point any trip
out of the house seemed to remind her of those trips and she was always quite
agitated. After giving her the complete once over, the doctor decided to take
a look under her tail, and at the precise moment he lifted it (and bent down
forn a closer look) the Odessa-Doll let fly with one of the loudest and most
obnoxious catfarts I have ever experienced. It was decidedly audible, though
that was not its most distinct feature; the vet backed off several feet, and
the tech opened and shut the door several times in succession to try to fan
out the bouquet that penetrated and permeated. Odessa, the most delicate of
our Ladies, to this day can fart like a truck driver after a couple of plates
of stuffed cabbage at a stop along some remote stretch of Thruway
imaginatively called "Eats..."
Note to myseft: pick up a can of Glade.

hear about senior citizens eating Alpo because their medicines are too
expensive, because we can't get a nationalized health system; I hear about
climate damage and the rape of our own Earth, committed by Her children, and
She is getting pissed at us. If we did not have something to laugh at for
just a moment to relieve the grimness of it, many of us would lose our heads
to inevitable depression.
On a practical matter, remember a cat cannot speak the language of its two-
legged servants and we must be vigilant stewardsw of the animals God/dess
gave us; and one of those ways is to check its gas and waste. If there's a
problem, call a vet and NOW; if not, laugh, because we need something to
laugh at in the midst of all that goes on.
And I DO read my scriptures.

channel. I can't find my glasses (again). I already spend too damned much

of living as a poor senior, and for many years. And a newsflash for people

This woman had a complicated pregnancy. In the meantime, my friend Olive,
disabled, is still fighting for the benefits and care that is the right of a
person who CAN'T GODDAMN WALK, are you understanding at all? We are not
taking care of our own people. It's a shame and a crime. Stop hiding behind
your priesthood authority, stop thinking you're anything other than a man who
puts his pants on one leg at a time like any other schmuck out there, and
look in your own backyard. You have brought your friends food in times of

The LDS church has a long history of charity. Both to members,
and non-members. LDS folks are some of the most giving people I
know. Having been in the church for 15 plus years, I've seen a
lot for sure.
The LDS version of charity can be either supporting someone
who isn't able to take care of him / her self. Or, helping people
to get the skills needed to be self supporting. And in many
cases, help with work such as moving house or fixing things
around the house. Or on vehicles. LDS charity encourages people
to maintain strong families, and be good citizens.
This self-started charity involves people who give of their
own free will. It is very different from Baha's vision of charity
where the government takes money away from the citizens under
threat of and use of force. And then the government gives money
and benefits to people who illegally come into the country. Or
who have multiple babies through unmarried fornication. Thus,
rewarding and encouraging more illegal entry, and more
fornication. And discouraging people from being employed cause
the government just takes it all. When it's so much easier to
stay home and collect welfare.
As with most churches, gossip is discouraged. But, it's the
basic nature of people to want to know about other people.

Until you have experienced it, or have lived with its long-term effects, you

responsible voters, can benefit its citizens. You must understand that as
long as we consider ourselves a "melting pot" we have the right to be

weekend before last I had to represent prisoners of war in general, and the

While I would doubt that he is dangerous, I'm certain that he is trying to

And the problem is, I don't know why. As hard as this is to believe, Louie
thinks he has a deep-seated, um, interest in me, and that if I could be
persuaded to return to the LDS I would leave Louie and marry Chris so his
duty to the church could be done. This, I think, is carrying things far; my
husband has a bit of an insecure side and before I came along never thought
he'd marry in this lifetime. Fortunately he's not of a jealous nature! But I
digress. I know that some of the posts seem targeted; one on this thread made
reference to a leaking roof (in this case over a back patio and it has since
been fixed) and the large number of books I own, including a large collection
of world scriptures. It does give jme the creeps.

That would be very sad and pathetic, if true. Remember how kids say, "If a
boy puts gum in your hair, that means he likes you"? Usually applies to 9
year olds, though.
Before I took the time to learn how to killfile people in my newsreader,
I used sorting as a way to make it easier to delete the posts of certain
individuals.
First, I'd sort the posts according to the poster. That way, I'd have
all the posts from the same person together. And then I could just delete,
delete, delete, all the posts from whomever I didn't want to read,
without even opening them. Once finished with that, I'd sort them again,
in subject-line order, which is how I prefer to read Usenet.
The sort-delete-sort method is a bit of a pain, and it's a lot easier
to killfile. But if you don't know how to do that, it is an option. Your
newsreader must allow you to sort the posts into different orders (by
subject, date, poster, etc).

I never could understand that sort of attitude - religion is
such an intensely personal thing, and most religions have
similar ethical teachings (although their members don't
always follow them). We all choose whatever path to God we
find most acceptable - no one religion is "better" than
another, and I'm sure the Supreme Deity doesn't care which
"brand" we choose, only that we try to follow its precepts.

against a personal belief I have that faith is unique to the believer and
highly personal. For instance, I share with Wiccans the belief in Goddess
whereas another Sikh might have a different outlook. My position is very
Unitarian. It's not for me to judge. To go about selling your image of the
divine or what is perceived to be "the one truth" or the only way to worship,
seems like you're peddling faith like a used-car guy or insurance agent. It
rather cheapens something bigger than myself; and I hate being sold to. Show
me, don't feed me words and expect me to believe blindly.

What you need is (a) a news service independent of CatKB and (b) some
software to use it. For the first, a lot of people are very happy
with news.individual.net (10 euros a year for all groups); other

software, try MT-NewsWatcher (what I use) on the Mac or Forte Agent
(or Free Agent) on the PC. You will end up being able to do a lot

takes it a enough resolve *not* to wonder what a jerk is posting and to
ignore or delete his or her posts without opening them.

Don't you have the capability to cut and paste in your post? (With the
emphasis on "cut"? :))
When I follow-up to a post, it brings the entire initial post into my
editor. I can then snip out whatever I want, just using editing keys.
If yours is more GUI oriented, you'd probably be using the mouse to
highlight the text to eliminate, and then hit "delete".
