OT: For anyone traveling tomorrow...

driving 3.5 hours north, as well, and we're meeting in the middle in a tiny
town to be together for Thanksgiving. I found this great little inn that
we'll be at. They do the traditional Thanksgiving dinner there too.
At this time of year, Dad and I both miss my mom so much. We make do as
best we can. So, for everyone out there who will be with their families,
hug them, kiss them, and CHERISH the time together!!

I'm going to second the suggestion, heartily. As some of you who follow
other groups may know, the Dowager passed away a week ago next Thursday,
two days short of twenty-five years since we lost the Old Man. The
Dowager was the last of her generation in my family - and I have always
lived on another coast or in the middle of the continent from my
cousins; I know none of them well, although I've met all of them.
My sister and I shall be clinging to each other *and* to our in-laws
this year for Thanksgiving. And I, of course, shall cling eaually to
Leila, who lived with the Dowager before she had to come live with me
when the Dowager became incapable of caring for a four-foot and had to
be moved to a place where she, herself, could be cared for.

We're traveling over 200 miles tomorrow to visit family, then even further
after the holiday to visit more family.
It will be my grown stepdaughter's 1st Thanksgiving without their mother.
She died last spring. Then one lost her 15 yr old cat recently to complete
kidney failure. I think Xmas will be harder for them.

I went to San Diego CA, recently: I go the USA to play bridge at the
end of November every year. I travelled on the day before Thanksgiving.
On the plane I met a young lady [I would guess about 18 or 20] who was
returning from a holiday in Dublin, Eire, getting to San Diego after 14
hours flying plus time at Philadelphia at about 2100 - and she and her
system were driving north to Utah next day at 4.00 am! Crazy!!!!
