I've always thought the Painted Conure was beautiful and would like to
have one when I have a real aviary. (I LOVE conures).

But why is it rare??

I don't know the original poster's reason for saying it was rare, but I
see ads in the paper for rare Quakers all the time where I live:)
One reason there aren't a lot of painteds for sale (or duskys for that
matter) is becasue some breeders prefer to concentrate on the more
brightly colored conures as they have more "appeal". It's a shame because
painteds and duskys are really nice, and without concentrated breeding
programs for these "underrated" species (and others) they will only become
less available.

regardless of whatever reason ... I've always thought of the *Painted*
as a great colored-pencil/watercolor brush drawing.

: in a breeding situation.

We would love to put it in a breeding situation...but we aren't
equipped to breed it ourselves. Therefore, we are offering it as
either a pet or breeder bird. We have contacted several aviaries
but have had no replies as of yet.
