Hi, all. For the past 2 months, I've been birdysitting my SO's boss' red-
lored amazon, and I've become rather fond of the little guy. He's wild-
caught, but usually very sweet. There isn't that special bond that I have
with my tiel, but I like him. So this guy now wants to sell the bird to me,
since he has three very young kids and very little time. The bird loves
attention (especially head-scratches), but is a little bad-tempered about
stepping up (although we're working on that :-) ). So what I'm wondering is
what is a reasonable price to pay for the bird? Thanks a lot,

I have a 2 year old red-lored amazon which was a hand-fed baby. I paid
$550 for her to a local breeder. She(or He?) is absolutely great,
although
she tends to pick a favorite word for the day and repeat it over and
over.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

You didn't say how old he was. I have 2 Red-Lored. One was a "free"
adoption, the other a hand-raised baby. I would suggest around $500 or a
little less would be about right.
