I just went to Todd Marcus Mirds Exotic in Cinnaminson, NJ and they have
notices up about Bird Paradise in Burlington, NJ. It turns out the reason
Bird Paradise has been closed it because the birds there have the "Parrot
Flu". It has been closed down by the health department. One of the workers
at Todd Marcus said the birds will be destroyed.

They has a clipping of the story from the local paper. Their website is
http://www.courierpostonline.com . I will search for the article later and
post it if I find it.

I couldn't find the artical. Could you elaborate on the "Parrot Flu"? I'm
not familiar with that name.

Thanks, Dave

Parrot Flu is the common name for some airborne disease. I am not too sure
about what exactly it is. I am sure if you call Todd Marcus
(http://www.thebirdstore.com/birdstore.htm), you can ask them about the
article and disease. They are very knowledgeable.

I just spoke with the Burlington County Health Department, and they told me
that the store was closed as a precaution. The sick birds have been
quarantined and destroyed a few months back. The article that I read at Todd
Marcus is a few months old. I makes me wonder why they still have signs up
all over their store about it ($$$). The actual name of the disease is
called "psittacosis" or "parrot fever". There is no current risk to the
public or any of the birds at the store at this time.
