I have a playstand that I got from:

I have just recieved mine and the birds love it but they asked me if I
wanted it vet wrapped. If I order another one, would you recommend
having it vet wrapped or not? By the way, these are the best prices I
have found for playgyms so I thought I'd share.

I've wrapped my PVC stand in Vetrap and most of my flock left it
alone...except my grey. He chewed it up and it made his beak all sticky
(and that can't be good). Plus, I didn't use the 3M brand, and the generic
had tiny but nearly unbreakable threads running through it which caught up
on my elderly cockatiel's toe and I had a devil of a time getting it off
him. (He has crippled feet that overlap each other, and hates to be
handled.)
Those are the reasons I'm personally steering clear of vetrap-wrapped
perches. Instead, I "painted" white glue on the perch and then wrapped a
vegetable-tanned leather strip around and around and around. That worked
fine also.
