I am interested in buying a puppy, my only specifications are that the
dog has to be a large dog as I find smaller dogs have more irritating
barks, I was curious as how I would go about purchasing a dog, is it
best to go through a breeder, or just to go to a pet shop??? Thanks

I would never buy a puppy or dog through a pet shop again, I made that
mistake once, Poor puppy had so many problems.......... I would either buy
from a good breeder or try a shelter. Try going to the AKC web site to
figure out what type of dog is right for you. DY

I would always recommend going through a breeder. In the UK now pet
shops are no longer able to sell live puppies or kittens - is it a
different law where you are?

Never buy a puppy from a pet store. I got my 2 year old Saint Bernard from
Saint Rescue. He 's the best dog I've ever had. I highly recommend the
rescue groups before buying a puppy. There are lots of great dogs that need
homes, especially large dogs. With large breeds, people don't realize what
they are getting into when they pick out that cute little ball of fur as a
puppy. What the dog starts growing, they realize they can't handle a large
breed dog and the dog ends up in rescue.
