1. Marine World/Africa USA is in financial trouble and may close
2. The park was recently purchased by an anonymous/faceless buyer
3. The park was sold to a company that operates other theme parks
4. The park was not sold, but is being MANAGED by a company that operates
other parks
Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
Splash Attack at Tiger Island (planned and under construction prior to
the Premier management takeover)
Popeyes Seaport (kid oriented small ride area - a few kiddie rides
themed around Popeye etc...)
Dinosphere - an IWERKS ride simulator being billed as the largest
simulation theater in the west. (Whatever that means!)

Marine World / Africa USA was SOLD to Premier Parks, though its
a very different place from their other parks which are mainly
ride/water parks, not an Animal park. I heard they already had a few
themed rides in the works for the parks. Two simulators actually
I think. Some DINO thing and I can't remember the other.

Marine World/Africa USA was bought last year by Premier Parks, which
also purchased a number of other parks in the same time period. It is
now the fourth largest regional theme park company in the US (their
words). They also own Adventure World, Riverside, The Great Escape,
Darien Lake, Elitch Gardens, Frontier City, and a few others that I
can't remember off the top of my head.
Additions/corrections I didn't catch before sending the above newsgroup
posting:
Premier Parks won the management contract last year from the City of
Vallejo for Marine World Africa USA with an option to buy beginning in
2002. Premier Parks also owns Wyandot Lake and Geauga Lake.

Here are all the details from someone is lives not that far from the park.
Latge last year I beleive, the city of Vellejo, which owns thew park, found
out that the park was loosing money and needed some sort of a fix to keep
it profitable for the city. The solution was to hire Premier to run the
park and add some new attractions. Since they took over, Premier has added
a Popeyes Seaport (A childrens acttraction and ride area), a Dinosour
motion simulator ride, and a tiger water attraction.Other improvements may
be in the works soon if these work out as planned. Just for the record
Premier does not own the park, it only runs it.

But is this a temp control with option to buy kind of deal, like the one
Six Flags has with Fiesta Texas?
