Wrong newsgroup. Use rec.travel.budget.backpack

If you guys ever decide to go on long hikes in the woods then please
stop back.

Does "young at heart" count? :-)

Obviously only clueless and ignorant counts,
since they don't have the sense to figure out
that rec.backcounty is for backpacking in the great outdoors.

Does the MTV age-group go outdoors that much anymore?
Leave their precious cell phones, video games, and web browsers?
When I'm hiking with the Sierra Club, it seems to be
mostly geezers (over 40s). Ditto many other sports groups.

I've seen similar with other outdoors groups, with a trend towards an
older demographic.

Younger people do try these activities, but do not seem to get as
involved with them, and certainly not with organizations, as was
formerly the case.

Some of it could be the wider variety of other activities, some of it
could be attention span. Not sure.

Happy trails,

I wonder if this was a scam. The domain name mtvstaff.com
appears to have been disabled.

Stop hiking with the Sierra Club. Visit a bouldering area. Look into
your local college's Outdoor Club.

You'll see plenty of folks under 40. Enjoying the outdoors.

Geoff <- 28, and hasn't owned a video game machine since my Atari and
Frogger.

Judas! Just back from out of town. Of course you only see geezers when
hiking with the sierra club. They are all fat geezers. What does that
say about you? There are plenty of young kids outdoors. They just
aren't bored enough to bother going hiking with the sierra club.
