That sounds like plywood would be a good investment.

Nah, Ida isn't a "real" hurricane. Folks along the Gulf coast don't
get panicked until the critter is a Cat 3 or batter. Those Cat 1's
and Cat 2's are just a bunch of rough water in the Gulf bringing a
bunch of rain ashore (the Gulf coast is used to rain) and some wind
but nothing to get excited about. I am sure the weather & news folks
are all excited. It looks like Pensacola may be near the center of
the cone. I guess I better start googling and see where the center of
the cone is projected to come ashore. TV in Kansas isn't keeping
track of Ida. VBG

Linus, I just looked at the projected path and that thing IS heading
into Pensacola (at least projected to hit Pensacola). That is
certainly nothing new we seem to attract hurricanes like flies to
shit.

Let the fun begin. My common sense tells me that as the storm
progresses over the cooler waters of the upper Gulf that thing will
weaken --------- at least I hope so. I think we will welcome the rain
it brings.

Please keep me posted.

thanks

Of course with the Gulf being cooler this late in the season, Ida will
weaken before it hits the coast.
But the poor hurricane people have had a dull season and Al Gore and his
buddies warned that hurricanes would all
be more frequent and powerful due to global warming.

You wouldn't want their credibility to sink any further, would you?

Think how lack of house repairs has cost jobs in the construction
industry. How many sellers of plywood have been laid off?
The hurricane hunters' planes are getting rusty from lack of use.

We need to pump up some enthusiasm and here you are, not even willing to
invest in a stack of plywood.

Tsk! Tsk! Obama will think you're not a team player, Mikey.

Where is Ol' Rush Limberger when you need him ??

Just one blast of his hot air would send Ida to Cuba and
save Linus from all this worry...

I'd buy some plywood - but Walmart doesn't sell it.

I'm surprised that Al Gore hasn't already volunteered.

Linus, my son called to tell me that Ida was a bunch of nothing. The
eye passed over Mobile Bay about 60-miles west of Pensacola around
6:30 this morning. He said construction workers were already back on
the job in Pensacola by 10am. They got 4" of rain but to them is was
like a really good thunder storm. Things are back to normal and TV
camera crews are scampering around to find each rotten tree that fell
---- of course it will make a better story if the rotten tree falls on
a house. VBG

No money in the plywood market, huh? Once you saw the temperatures of
shallow water, you knew it was going to poop out.

At least you would have had a break from Kansas.

The eye, or what is left of the eye just passed over me and all I got
was some rain. Hardly no wind to speak of. Guess I will get ready to go
to the VA clinic for an appointment and then on to Wal Mart.

My grandson, stationed at Eglin, is in KY with a bunch of planes. Is that
normal when storms are expected?

Better safe than sorry. It's easier for the Base CO to explain the use
of fuel than aircraft damage to planes that could have avoided it.

Base/Squadron commanders are responsible for the safety of their
aircraft. Yes, if they are in danger of damage from a Hurricane they
evacuate the aircraft at least the Navy does.

Cool video but Ida was such a minimal storm that folks actually stayed
on this rig instead of evacuating. One can only imagine what things
look like during a real storm.

Lot of wave action. Put a little soap in your dirty underwear, tie a
rope on 'em and toss them in.
