My last 3 Dell laptops are all still alive. The second one was slammed
against an asphalt pad, hard enough to wreck 2 of the 3 USB ports and
the USB connector on the mouse. Still works though. I just use a hub
when connecting to a number of USB widgets. I have 2 older Toshibas
that will run but their operating systems are corrupted. Old 95 and 98
operating systems. The Dells all run XP.

Sounds real. Look at the way business folks use their laptops. Many
are in and out of the car multiple times a day. Think about it.

OK, I thought about it and....? OH, I get it, lifting a laptop causes
it to go bad? Is that it? Mine has ridden in a Motorhome over 65,000
miles in 6 years. Replaced a keyboard. Now what?

Not just riding. Drop it in the bag, dump it in the car, pull it out,
open up turn on, use, shut down, drop in bag, dump in car repeat as
required. Most folks try but few succeed in doing it gently and
carefully every time. Many folks do it a lot of times a day. Most do
it at least twice.

Then there are the power cord issues. Animals and people get tangled
and yank the cord as they trip over it. Good for a motherboard after
a few tries.

Then I could rant about the large morons who just have to jam their
carry on into the airplane locker on top of your laptop.
