convert propane generator

If I can't convert my propane Onan generator to diesel, is it easy and cheap to
convert it to gasoline? How does one do that, please?

If you have the right parts, it is relatively easy (_how_ easy
will depend on what model Onan you have, and how accessible it
is). You'll need the gasoline carburetor, fuel pump, the line
from the fuel pump to the carburetor, and the inlet
fitting/filter at the pump. You may -depending on model/spec-
also need the choke actuator and linkage, and possibly the air
preheater, tube, and summer/winter flap on the air cleaner. At a
guess, with new parts, you're looking at maybe $300 or so for
parts - let me know what model/spec your genset is, and I'll be
able to give you a more detailed breakdown. You may possibly be
able to find some or all of the parts you need used, but I don't
have a source for you (other than possibly some of the rv salvage
places linked from ram's rvsafety site).
The part that may be the most difficult will be providing a
gasoline tank. IIRC, you have a diesel pusher - so you'll either
need to use portable tanks with quick disconnect such as boat gas
tanks (and be unable to run the gen except when stationary, plus
where do you put the tank(s) when underway?) or find, mount, and
plumb in a gas tank for the generator.

Onan does list a fuel tank that's for gas or diesel that is designed to be
mounted in a storage compartment of a trailer or motorhome. I think it's
about ten gallons. You should be able to find it on their web site.

Northern tool has some nice ones too and would probably be cheaper than Onan's
outrageous parts prices.
