Raymond,
Is the cooling unit getting hot on the back of the refrigerator.
If so, and the refrigerator is not cooling at all, chances are
it's dead!
If not, are you trying to run the refrigerator on gas or
electric?
If you are trying to run it on gas, try the electric side.
If you are already running it on elec, test the electrical system of the
fridge.
This can best be done with an ohm meter.
A. UNPLUG you refrigerator.
B. Make sure the refrig. selector switch is on elec. and
the thermostat is on max.
Test across the refrig.'s electrical plug. Use the two spade connectors
on the plug.
You should get about a 60ohm apx. reading. If you don't get a reading at
all, 1 of 4 possible problems. Each of these can be tested with the ohm
meter.
1. heating element (should read apx. 60ohm's)
2. bad thermostat (should read as a short)
3. bad electrical switch (should read as a short)
4. wiring problem (when all else fails check the wiring)
As for the tumbling, this is basically an old wives tail. On a rare
occasion this will work, but only untill you turn off the fridge. Then
you'll have to do it again, if it actually worked in the first place.
Kinda like hitting a compressor with a hammer to get it running.
Hope this helps. Any more questions on how, what or why these actually
work, just ask..
