We knew that when Reid scheduled a vote. No way would he have taken a
chance if he had not bribed and cajoled the errant sheep back into the fold
so he was guaranteed his 60 votes.
Obama would have been greatly embarrassed and Harry would probably have
had a stroke and not survived.

I guess this is how he got that vote #60 he needed!

It's always a good idea to keep a couple of bottles of bubbly on hand.
One never knows when an occasion may arise.

Both political parties are rotten to the core. It would be
interesting to see neither of those politicians vote for the bill and
Louisiana miss out on that $100-million dollars as a result of the
bill not passing.
It might also be interesting if the bill fails because Vitter doesn't
vote for it and Louisiana misses out on that $100 million.
Politics is totally rotten.

Got to agree, Mike. Seems as fast as one rotten politician is voted
out, a new one is voted in. Even if they start out ok, most seem to
turn bad.................kinda like throwing a good apple into a
barrel of rotten ones!

Conjugal visits every other weekend would be my only concession. Booze
would be rationed.

As I recall Landreau was half the reason LA did not get a lot of the
help they wanted after the hurricane. She was playing politics rather
than doing her side of the work. It seemed her theory was we should
just give them money with no questions asked.
Absolutely on target. Some time ago, politics turned elections into a
bribery contest with each party offering goodies for votes without regards
to affordability. This has always been the danger of a fiat money supply in
that you can create the illusion of having your cake and eating it too.
In most cases, it's like breaking a pinata open only to find the supposed
prizes are tainted with radioactive booby prizes with half lives of 10,000
years.
I used to want to know what's after the number trillion, but now it isn't
important, because if that number is needed it won't matter.

Right now Canadians and many other socialized health care victims are
coming to the US for medical care their nation's governments do not deem
appropriate. Why are we so headstrong in modeling a failed idea?
It's all about controlling people so they keep voting for a party that
will take care of them from cradle to grave.
Just as FDR used the Great Depression to advance his socialist policies
and keep the Democrats in power, Obama and his
crew are using the present crisis (and deliberately making it worse) to
advance their agenda.
Nothing could be more obvious but those who voted for him will never
admit to his motives.

LZ, did you perchance happen to catch Todd Beamer's father on Fox News
earlier this morning? His characterization of the current "regime" was
incredibly on point. His WSJ article last week also is worth reading.
He's got their number alright...

I saw him during my breakfast news fix.

You get up earlier than I do :-)
What did you think...will he become a Teabag Party candidate for
Congress? I hope he will.
Obama's appointees do not have the nation's welfare at heart. They act
like corrupt custodians in charge of an orphanage.
LZ
Well, as Mr. Beamer so aptly wished us -- may we have happier
Thanksgivings after regime changes in 2010 ans 2012
And I guess they don't think that global warming is as important as
they've been telling us.

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama will decide "in the coming days"
whether to attend a United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen
in December, a senior administration official said Monday.
...
Obama is already scheduled to be close to Copenhagen on December 10,
when he will visit nearby Oslo to receive his Nobel Peace Prize.

Doesn't know if he's going to attend a UN climate change summit of
world leaders, but he's sure as hell going to go pick up his prize.
Back in 2008, I developed expectations of him, and he's doing a fine
job of meeting them - the suit remains as empty as it was then.

Yep, so true.
The worst part of all this is that the world he is creating is so shitty
that there is absolutely no satisfaction in saying "I told you so."
I wonder whether Giddings is reconsidering his advocacy.
Also wonder how he feels about the intellectual dishonesty of his
favorite newspaper, the New York Times, who now claims the moral high
ground and not publish the hacked climate non-change e-mails -- while
having no qualms about betraying national secrets at every opportunity.

Tonite a bunch of dems announced they would NEVER vote for it to pass.
They are pro/anti abortion and a couple that understand the $$
ramifications. And of course the few wanting a public option.

And I will drive to Nevada and piss on that bastard's grave.... If I
can stand to wait in line that long.
She refused to settle for less than 300M.
Whore.
They don't need conjugal visits. Ther are enough Dem/Lib whores in
congress to supply all the "lip service" the dems need!
You can't trust the bastards. They will drop anything required to get
passage and then add it later bit by bit or have a bureaucrat interpret the
bill as they see fit. Naturally they wrote a bill asking for twice what
they hope to achieve and then laugh all the way home as they make
"concessions"
they never expected to get in the first place.
Reminds me of my Army supply budget. Figure out what you need, double
it and submit it. You get half of what you asked for which is exactly
what you
planned for.

$300 million buys a lot of votes. Probably about 3 times as many as the
original $100 million bribe.....errr disaster assistance funding.
