Before I ask a specific question, does anyone here play with a Nuvi
and MapSource?

I little bit. I download tracks from time to time, then convert them to
a Google Maps format.

Do you mean to suggest that you're biased against taking advice from
people who know nothing? Shame on you.

So, I have both. What is the question?

U have 3 Nuvi's and I use Mapsource on occasion.

When MapSource is set to my local computer time zone (EDT) in
preferences, and I load a diagnostic - not a trip log - track log file
(.gpx file) into it, the fix times read 5 hours off. However, when I
play back the same trip on the Nuvi with the .bin file, the fix times
are correct. Also, an eTrex track log (.gpx) reads the correct fix
times Map Source.

If I set MapSource preferences to a UTC offset of -9, the fix times in
the Nuvi track log read correctly, but now the eTrex fix times are 5
hours off.

What's going on, and how do I fix it?

Note: This is a 1490T, and it could be a problem with the 1490, just
my 1490, or just with some Nuvi models. Or none of those.

I loaded a track log .gpx file into Mapsource and the times were
correct. Mapsource was set to EDT. The track file was made with a
Nuvi 1450. I then did it with a Nuvi 755 track file and a GPS Map 76
track file, with the same results. I cannot help with any of the
other questions.

I've never played with this feature, diagnostic.

Either send me the file or tell me where I can get one and I'll test it
out on my 2 Garmin's. Maybe. I need to figure out how to do it, but I
don't think it's beyond my capabilities. Maybe.

I have a 780, so I think it's older than yours.

OK, I've sent a short one to ...tch.com. If that's a bad address, or
you don't get it, let me know.

> I have a 780, so I think it's older than yours.

Here's how to make a track log on a 1490:
Tap View Map

Tap Speed

Hold on the round speedometer for about 5 seconds, and the Diagnostic
page will come up.

Tap Diagnostic Logging

Tap Start Recording

Check GPX

Tap Start - this takes you back to the map screen where you can see
recording in progress.

When you're ready to stop, tap the little gray button that says "Sto".

I loaded it into MapSource with my computer time set at MST. The start
time on the track is 03:45:24 AM. I cannot load it into my 780. Won't
show the track. I've loaded it into my eTrax but I can't find the time
data. I'll keep working on it to see what it says.

My 780 won't let me do a diagnostic track.

Point me in the right direction and I'll try to help. Maybe.

When I hold the MPH circle, I don't get what you get.

First page is Shutdowns
RTL Trap 01-Oct-12
RTL Trap 22-Sept-12
RTL Trap 22-Sept-12

After that I get what looks like memory size used by different components.

So it's 4 hours off the correct time in yours, and 5 hours off the
correct time in mine, but there's 2 hours difference between EDT and
MDT. I can't explain that, either.

Point you? This ain't a test that I know the answer to. If I could
point you, I would have already pointed myownself.

But how about this: Set your computer to EDT, MapSource to Local
computer time, load the file, and see what the track start time is.

break break..

Did you load it into your eTrex before or after it went through
MapSource? If before, how and where did you put it in the eTrex? If I
put it my eTrex, all I get is a track - no times or fix points. Can
you put a track in your eTrex that shows fix points?

I'm on MST here in AZ. There is 3 hours difference in our times.

My condolences. I like the track log - even if it does have some
peculiar limitations.

Oh. Well, I still can't explain it.

While you guys are discussing MapSource could you tell me what it is
and how I could use it. (Garmin 1450 LMT)
