Here's how to make a track log on a 1490:
Tap View Map
Tap Speed
Hold on the round speedometer for about 5 seconds, and the Diagnostic
page will come up.
Tap Diagnostic Logging
Tap Start Recording
Check GPX
Tap Start - this takes you back to the map screen where you can see
recording in progress.
When you're ready to stop, tap the little gray button that says "Sto".
