Hi all

I intend to come to Yellowstone next July.
Could somebody tell me if a GSM coverage is available in the park ?

Thanks.

There is no coverage of any kind in most of the park and some coverage in
other parts. We have AT&T cell phones and get excellent signals at Old
Faithful, spotty coverage at Mammoth Hot Springs and coverage at Lake Butte
Overlook east of Fishing Bridge. This was the coverage last summer. We
have only been in the park once this summer so there could be some
additional coverage, but we didn't notice any in the north end of the park.

Thank you for your fast answer.

I'll come from Europe and I'll be in "roaming" status in USA. My phone
will be able to connect to all networks having signed an agreement with
my own (belgian) operator.
These networks are

CINGULAR WIRELESS EAST
SPRINT NEXTEL
T-MOBILE (VOICESTREAM)
COMMNET AMERICA
CINGULAR WIRELESS (FORMERLY AT&T)
CINGULAR WIRELESS WEST
CINGULAR GENESIS

I suppose (I hope...) it will be more easy to find coverage if 2, 3 or
more (?) of these networks are covering Yellowstone....

Sorry for my english, my native language is french... ;-)

A year and a half ago I got good Verizon coverage at Old
Faithful. Last month I got no Verizon coverage there. Is
the tower gone?

About two weeks ago, I had good Verizon coverage at Old Faithful.
And the tower is still there.

They may have had a problem. Last week a thunderstorm took out power to a
relay tower near Mammoth. The equipment switched to emergency battery
pawer, the batteries ran down and the park lost most or all phone and
internet service for a few hours.

What coverage you will have will be limited, This area is more rural
then anything you have ever seen. Outside of towns, there is almost zero
coverage, and there is large distances between towns. Once you get back
on the Interstate Highways the coverage is more continuous, but still
not 100%

Maybe it was just a seasonal thing.

I haven't been to Old Faithful yet this summer, but for a number of years we
have had excellent AT&T service there.

I am aware that the quality of coverage will be very different from
what I know in Belgium (here, almost each square metre is covered, also
in rural area, because the population is highly concentrated and towns
are very close to each other).

Thank you for your answer.
