Malcolm Florence

I have'nt been following this group for a while so my question may have
already been discussed. I just received the 1997 Offshore Angler Catalog
and it mentioned the "untimely passing of Malcolm Florence". Is this the
guy who had a fishing show called Big Fish Down Under? If so, does anyone
know what happened? This was the first I'd heard of his death. The show
has'nt been broadcast on ESPN for a few years now.

was just 50! He started writing initially, as I recall, for the
Australian magazine "Fishing World" under the byline Anthony James. He
was most famous for his "Big Fish Down Under" videos and was an
authority on custom rod building and billfish, his first love.

It's sad that I've seen no mention in the newsgroups of his passing
prior to this. Maybe I missed it? Fishing seems to so rarely honour
it's departed greats!!
