Hi,

I own a Boston Whaler 17' Montauk and would like to put downriggers
on it. However, the only place (that I know of) to attach the
downrigger is on a side rail.

Does anybody know of a downrigger that will attach to railings that
is a quality downrigger?

Does anybody know of an alternative way to mount downriggers on
a Montauk?

Thanks,

-Donnie

I used to own a Montauk. I tried to rail mount a downrigger once. I
almost lost the downrigger in the process. It was just to heavy to
mount in a rail mount rod holder. I never did find an acceptable way
to mount one.

Good luck...
Benny

I use their rail mount, designed for the Montauk, that uses a board to
exert downward pressure on the gunnel. I have them mounted over the
middle upright in the side rails, and use one rod holder at the rear of
the rail and one rod holder at the front of the rail....Lyle
