Hell, son! If ya didn't catch BC breaking their *own* legs to beat the afeared
North Cackalackey Tar Heels in the "steeped with tradition" Continental Tire
Bowl today, there ain't much point in watching any of those "Lesser Bowls"!
/daytripper (;-)
Normally it would be the granddaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl.
Big Ten - Pac 10, real college football from beautiful Pasadena,
Cali-for-ni-Aye.
This year ? The Rose Bowl has been corrupted by filthy interlopers
from the most disgusting place imaginable. The Rose Bowl 2005 is
not worth watching.
The game I look forward to watching on New Years Day is Iowa-LSU
in the Something or Other Bowl.

Could be my imagination, but it seems like there are more bowl games
nowadays than football teams.

There are too many bowl games by roughly one order of magnitude. I'll likely
give 'em all a huge miss.
It's supposed to hit the 50's here on Saturday...
/daytripper (and you'd have us all beat if you go fishin'...)
The problem around here is that January 1 is the first day of C&K on the
previously C&R waters. I have a feeling with that and the weather it'll
be a bit crowded.
BUT. . . I know of some secluded spots on the lower end of the river,
so, if my torn muscle doesn't act up TOO much, I may yet find my way out
there with my Christmas present I gave to myself. I may need my wading
staff just to make it up and down the banks. :(
Watching LSU beat up on Iowa in Whorlando would be the better game.
Why do you hate Michigan so much?
When I was watching The Holiday Bowl last night it appeared that Cal had no
business playing in the Rose Bowl.

The Gator bowl, with FSU and W Virginia ought to be pretty good - Bobby
Bowden started out there and FSU ought to be pretty pissed with 8-3, No.
17. Also, the Miami-Florida Peach Bowl tonight ought to be good, but
it's not NYD. FWIW, the reason (well, OK _a_ reason) Ken is so pissed is
that Texas will likely tear Michigan a new asshole, so IMO, it won't me
much of a game, unless that's what you're watching to see - as always,
YMMV.
TC,
R
Congrats to your Red Raiders, but as for the Rose Bowl we don't
need no steenkin' Texicans in the Rose Bowl. Texas football is
all fine and good in it's own way so long as you keep it down
south somewhere and away from polite society.

bowls are dead to me.
yfitons
wayno (if an incompetent midget can score on a fake field goal, the future
just ain't all that bright for your defense...)
Well, that's not quite the outcome you predicted, but that was a helluva
game.
So i was halfway right, still the best game of the day.
My predicator has been off since MLB decreed two separate and unequal strike
zones in the World Series, but it was a great game. LSU played on the edge
all year and two plays meant 9-3 instead of 11-1 whereas last year things
bounced the other way.
was one terrific game. now we got another one in the rose bowl.
nothing in team sport compares to the utter joy of college football.

You've odd-viously missed out on women's volleyball :~^0
Mark
My sentiments exactly, Counselor, as I was watching the Cotton Bowl this
morning and humming "Rocky Top"..
Danl
Beach volleyball has got to be the stupidest game I've ever
watched......um......well, for more than a couple of hours at a time,
anyway.
Wolfgang
You need to watch more indoor women's v-ball. The action is fast and furious,IMMHO.
Mark
Yeh, but compared to the beach v-ball, the indoor v-ball players are wearing
burkas.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! As if!
Fuckin' aye, man - the Redbirds couldn't manage to contest even one GAME!
/daytripper
(Pitiful, it was, but that had nothing to do with any strike zone ;-)

That would be fun to watch too. Imagine if you caught sight of an
ankle... . Hooboy, too much for this ol' boy to handle.
g.c.
I thought it turned out to be a pretty good game with Texas winning in
the last 2 seconds.
Ed
Them burkas is tight though!
Mark
Oh, I wasn't _really_ making a prediction, just gigging Ken a bit, but
you're right, it was a good game.
TC,

iowa vs. lsu may have been one of the best football games i have *ever*
seen!

I guess you were too taking in the inflated scores and the ordination of the
Sox than actually watching what was transpiring in the game. Game 1 showed
that MLB was not even going to let it be a contest.

Ah - ok, I didn't realize I was dealing with someone who saw black helicopters
from The Commissioner's Office but who clearly didn't watch every inning of
all four games.
Sorry.
/daytripper (Your boys were soundly spanked. Deal with it ;-)
Yea and like the Red Sox suddenly became disciplined enough to swing
and miss at something like 13 pitches the whole four game series. The
Cardinals were forced to pitch to a strike zone that was tighter than a
virgin whereas the called strikes when Edmonds was up with the bases
loaded in game one were so far off the plate it was pathetic. It was
like the Sox pictures suddenly became Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine
(successful not because of their stuff but because the strike zone
expands on the outside when they pitch)
Alas I watched every miserable inning of every game. But the BOSOX got
the chip off the shoulder so keep patting yourself on the back.
Now back to matters at hand, think the Patriots will overcome the
Steelers the second time around? Or is my money toast?

Aw, you're just cranky because a house landed on your team...

Thanks! It's my - and about five million of my closest friends - pleasure ;-)

I dunno about "toast", but Corey Dillon didn't even dress against them.
You never know what having an actual running game might mean...

I never bet the farm, but with the price of the single malt riding on
the outcome, it might as well be :(
