Has anyone fished the Lamiglas brand rods, and how do you like them?
I am looking to purchase a new rod and would like some feedback on
this brand and the Scott brand of fly rods. Please let me know your
thoughts, nicely!

Lamiglas I can't help you with. Scott; on the other hand; I've fished since
1975 or 1976. The STS (discontinued) and the S3 are both *great* rods.

i can only tell you that i have had a lamiglas spinning rod, about 6.5
feet long, for about twenty years, and it has been a very, very good rod.

That's lie asking how do you like a Chevy (corvette or chevette).

If you want a glass rod, they are great. I built a 3wt on a lami
eglass blank recently. My only complaint is that a fiberglass rod
does not have the punch of a graphite rod, but it is a comforatble rod
to cast for small streams where I have fished it.

The graphite lamiglass rods that I have cast have been very nice. I
would definitly consider one. I haven't heard any stories (positive
or negative) about their warranty though.

Love my Scott S3 8 weight. Hated the Lamiglas venture into the reel
world. Their reels suck IMO, but I have never touched one of their
rods, and never plan to.

Also, I saw a test of 8 weights, and the Teeny model Lamiglas was
pathetic in accuracy and distance compared to similarly priced rods.

I have had two Lamiglas spey rods, one built from an old blank and the
other a recent factory job. Both are slow rods yet they have
tremendous power with the right line and casting technique.

The factory rod was the second one -- the first arrived sans tube and
full of scuffs and scratches on the blank. I sent it back to Angler's
Workshop and they replaced it with another one (with tube). This one
was OK except for the cork. The upper handle had the best cork I've
ever seen on a factory rod (looks like the handles in rod ad pictures)
while the bottom handle was without doubt, the worst cork job I've
owned.

There's obviously some finishing QC problems going on here so look
closely before you buy.

The Scott S3's are disappointingly heavy in this day of light, fast rods.
However they throw a line a mile.
Ia've cast Lamniglass rods at conclaves and thought they cast well. Depends
upon whether it fits your style.

todd - if you are fishing light trout in medium size Eastern type streams, I
can recommend the Brush Creeks. I got a 7'6" #4 and a 7'#3 at the Camp Sherman
Bamboo Faire several weeks ago and they fish small flies and light tippets at
short and intermediate distances quite well. They also roll cast and roll pick
up competently.
The light honey color might put you (and the trout) off if you are fishing
in green canopy streams. I suppose that's why Lamiglass is discontinuing this
series and going to a black color blank with some graphite - to tighten up the
glass I guess.
My trout rod tastes run to bamboo and Winston-Scott-T&T type actions. I
also have an old Stalker and a recent Scott glass stick too, but I really do
like the Lamis.
You may be able to get the honey colored rods on sale before the 2004 models
come on the market.
