Another BCS team gets whacked by a lowly MWC team:

Utah - 37
Cal - 27

Could not believe it. Had to turn it off. Up 14 nothing in about 5 minutes
and then fall apart.

Obviously, as any fool can plainly see, the BCS is highly overrated!

Yawn. Just one more reason to shut them out of the big game.
They might actually luck out and win one and deprive a worthy
team of their championship.

or, one of these days, they can hold a real tournament, with the top 16
teams, like every other division and sport.
Then, the BS politics from lame-ass BCS conferences can fall to the wayside,
and we can have a real championship in college football.

Uh, we already have a "real championship in college football!" And it's
played in the Championship Football Subdivison (FCS).

Nuff said.

That would be the best, of course. But it wouldn't eliminate BS
politics. The BS would continue apace except that it would involve
#16 and #17 rather than #2 and #3.

true, but way better than this current mess. Plus, you can always dream that
the Illini reach #16<g>

I actually like it the way it is -- or similar to what it is -- as, if
there were a tournament, or some such, we couldn't have these
wonderful crowings, whinings, gloating, etc.

It's college sports. Who cares ?

cheers (anyway) and Merry Christmas to all

Oops, make that, "At *least* 3 of us."

I actually like it the way it was, before the BCS. The winner
of the Big10 plays the winner of the Pac 10 in the Rose Bowl
and you let the other teams fight it out for the minor bowls.

Who needs a "Championship Game" anyway. There are 120 teams in
Division 1 FBS so the only fair way to compete is for all 120
teams to play each of the other 119 teams twice each season,
home and away. Anything else is necessarily arbitrary. So to
hell with it. If it's all arbitrary anyway just leave it the
hell alone.

And then when the Illini get to the Rose Bowl you know they've
accomplished something.

year for the Big Ten<g>.

Let's see, the Illini lost to Fresno St., who lost to Wyoming, who lost,
on the frozen tundra of Laramie, 52-0 to BYU.

Russell

Who thinks a "Toilet" bowl is better than no bowl and who's team, the
last five years, is 49-15 and 3-2 against BCS teams in bowl games.
