I am thinking about buying a Cajun 2300 Fishmaster with a Johnson 150
OceanRunner motor on it.
I want to use it primarily for fishing. I fish alot of freshwater for
Bass and Stripers but also every once in a while go fishing out in Salt
Water in the Gulf Coast Bay in Texas. Additionally, I would like to be
able to pull skiers.
What do you all think? Has anyone heard anything bad about Cajun boats?
(or good?). What about this boat?
Any comments greatly appreciated.

While I'm not familiar with the particualr Cajun you mentioned, I do
own a 18.5 ft Cajun Bass boat. It formerly belonged to Larry Laozen,
who is a professional Bass Fisherman, and it had been well used when I
bought it. It is a fine boat that handles rough water better than a
comparable sized Ranger. I've been in some very rough water and
always felt in control of the situation. In waves caused by 15-20 mph
winds on Lake Guntersville or Wheeler Lake, I usually can still travel
45 mph with comfort. This boat is a 1988 model but unless Cajun has
dropped quality since then, I'd expect the boat you mentioned too have
good craftsmanship.
All I know is that Rich Tauber -- one of the presenters at the B.A.S.S.
Fishing Techniques seminar this past weekend in Cupertino, CA -- was
wearing his pro shirt with the Cajun emblem prominently displayed, while
he taught us his Gitzit, Slug-Go & rubber worm techniques.
Rich, along with *Larry Nixon*, Dee Thomas, Jack Hains, Robert Hamilton
and Bobby Barrack, did an *excellent* job of teaching us all how they
rig, throw and retrieve their bass baits, each in their own special way.
All in all, a GREAT way to learn, plus you get to meet the guys face-to-
face, get their autographs, get your picture taken with 'em, ask them
specific questions, one-on-one. All for just $89! How could you do
better than that -- short of going out on a boat alone with them? Keep
'em coming, B.A.S.S.!!!
Anyways, in answer to your query, at least you know Cajun is being used
by *one* of the pros! They must be worth a good look!

I really can't address the new models, but my Dad had a Cajun Fish and
Ski model (called a "Deux Vois") that my brother still has, and it has
been a really good boat for both jobs. It was not the best as a pure
bass boat, but it was pretty good, and it was a great ski boat. It is
now over 10 years old and has never had a boat related problem that I
know of. The only problem that I know of was with the engine, and it
was moved to that boat from another boat Dad had, and is now about 18
years old, and had to be rebuilt a couple of years ago (Johnson 115HP).
Know that isn't too current, but it does show the reliability of the
boat!
