Marine GPS info

I am searching for a handheld or small fixed mount GPS for my boat.

I am not sure what type works best for fishing, should I go with a unit that
accepts C-map or CD rom maps?

I noticed Garmin C-map info does not include depth contours but apparently
Magellan C-map NT cartridges include this info.

I have not been able to confirm that C-map NT carts are available for TN
lakes.

Should I forget GPS maps and just get a simple GPS to use in conjunction
with detailed lake maps?

Any input would be appreciated.

Sorry, one more question.

What do you guys think of the GPS/Finder combos like the Garmin GPS MAp 185?
