Man, you said it!
A little of him goes a LONG way...

That was kind of my feeling. It was nice to see a sense of humor and it was
nice to have a fishing show that wasn't gear toward selling everything.

I found the show infantile, overacted, abusive in terms of
the handling of some of the fish, and pretty much worthless
in terms of educational content for anyone with a modicum
of bass fishing knowledge...
The guy is funny in extremely small doses, but he makes
Jim Carrey look like straight up actor with his hamming and
clowning.
In terms of demographics, that show was doomed from the
start... Cuz nobody that could own a remote would actually
sit and watch it!!!
For humour, I like Hank Parker's dry self-deprecating style.
For family entertainment I like Hank Parker and his son
(though the number of "yes sir's" could make me puke).
For multi-species informative angling I like Bob Izumi's
Real Fishing. If I want to watch someone overact and make
a fool of themselves I'll watch VIP... That's not the only
reason I'll watch VIP though...
AND I am under 30. But many consider me wise beyond
my years...
And this is all just my humble opinion.
Charles
Hank Parker definitely has all the candor, jollity and good-natured
poking-fun-at-ones'self humor anyone could ever ask for in a personality.
His seminar is loaded with it, and if you ever get a chance to attend one,
make sure you take your videocamera (don't allow someone else to do the
taping, however, if you want to enjoy it later <G>). Of course, I enjoy
most everything about bassfishing, but his mix of family, God, country and
fishing enjoyment makes the show memorable. I can stand the "yes, sirs"
because that was the way I was brought up.
I've never seen the Fishburne show and by your description would not care
to.
I did think you were older than 30! <G>

That's definitely a person I would pay to go see in person...
Another that I would pay to see again with many those
qualities is Davy Hite. Maybe it's the southern drawl, you
just can't help but seem nice and friendly (or is that spelt
dumb) with a southern drawl... just kidding...

The first ten or so in a row is ok, but please Timmy Paul
Parker, mix in a "Yes daddy" once in a while to break the
monotony. Respect for your elders was the first lesson
I learned growing up... Luckily it was an easy habit to
break myself of as I got older myself...
>I did think you were older than 30! <G>
Ouch.
I'm praying for Y2K catastrophes and the invention of a
new calendar or something, cuz 30 is on the horizon and
I'm not ready for retirement quite yet.

By "many" are you talking somewhere around two. Okay, who's the other one :)
They just sat there fishing most of the show, but toward the end, Fish
crossed over to his dad's ladder to 'bond' with dear old dad. Dad wanted no
part of it.

Fish and his dad set up folding ladders IN the lake, sat on top of them and
fished. Kinda crazy, but entertaining nonetheless. I never watched the show to
learn anything, just to take a break from all the other fishing shows. I
recorded it so I could turn it off and come back when it got too much for me.
I agree Jim. Another guy I really respect is Al Lindner from the In-Fisherman.
I met him several years ago at Clear Lake at a Christian bass fishing
seminar/tournament. He told his story about how he became a pro fisherman for
several species of fish too. He is a class act and a very knowledgable
fisherman.
Mike
G. Loomis and Shimano for me :)

If you have seen him in person you will also seee another good thing about
him....the kids LOVE him.....he's usually flocked by at least 4 dozen kids
wanting autographs and to talk about their big fish story. You don't see that
with any other pro.
He may be weird, but he does fish pro, has won tournaments, been to the
Classic, could probably easily kick most of our butts and helps get kids
interested in fishing.
That's all good in my book.
gotta love them Hawgs

Good fishing. And may your fish be as big as your tales!

We both have the same great insight into the deeper meaning of ... of ... the
deeper meaning of ... well, whatever, I'm prettier than him :)
Definitely, I hope I didn't make it seem as if I thought FF had
no business in Bass Fishing... I think getting kids involved is
MORE important than catching any, and I have absolutely
nothing but best wishes for Team Grandma and Claude. I
just thought the show really sucked, and it used up a 30 minute
time slot.

At Pyramid Lake outside Reno, NV the flycasters use ladders to get up out of
the cold water while fishing.

You were just be your charming self and the rest of us thought you deserved a
good lynching. Don't worry about - well, not until we catch up with you :)
I guess I forgot to mention she thinks I'm still seven, so
her thinking I wise beyond my years ain't quite the glowing
endorsement you might otherwise think.
Still, if I can just get her (and my fiance) to stop asking me
to bring home the fish I catch at a catch and release
tournament (as proof that I caught some, as if my word as
a fisherman ain't enough!), then I think I'll keep them!

I haven't done it yet, but I'm thinking about it. I keep thinking I need just
one more rod and reel - a rod and reel to die for. On the other hand, there
are three models to choose from which means a little investigation is required
