I am going on a couple of four day backpacking trips this summer and am
looking for ideas for light weight, inexpensive backpacking foods and
recepies. I don't want to spend a lot for hi-tech foods. I would appreciate
any tips anyone could share.

Thanks.

Here's some ideas...

Vesta meals - dehydrated meals (usually Chinese) consist of noodles, soya,
and a sauce. Not too bad, but need to simmer for 10 minutes plus.
Instant noodles and pasta - just add boiling water..!
Army 24 hour ration packs - these are ready meals in a foil pouch, just
simmer for around 5 minutes. These are quite cheap, but they are hard to get
hold of.

During the day I will eat cheese and biscuits, dried fruit and malt loaf....

Perhaps if you are not from the UK then none of this makes any sense...?

Hope it helps anyway,

Richie..

Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper do fairly well. Open the box and
take the noodle packet out and the sauce packet. Repack them in a
ziplock. Starkist Tuna has a compact tuna pack on the market, and
while it's a bit more than a can of tuna, you get more tuna and less
waste. And you don't have the can to pack out, just the empty
foil/plastic packet.
