Ok I've read all the stuff about tent heaters, etc. I'm not
interested in those (can't say I trust 'em) but I am interested in
getting a propane heater for outdoor use. This is for an extended
camping trip I'm taking to Oregon this January. I would like
something that will keep me warm in the evenings without having to
retreat to sleeping bags immediately after dinner but without having
to start a campfire every single night.

I will have a large propane tank with a distribution tree hooked up to
a stove and lantern and am looking for recommendations of what I can
add on. Currently I am considering one of the Mr Heater Portables but
would be happy to take suggestions from those experienced in the
matter.

Thanks,
Dan

You are a brave brave man! I was born and raised in Oregon and I STILL
won't camp in January! (OK, I iglooed on Mount Hood a few times, but
thats different ;-)

The larger Hooded Pole type Coleman outdoor heaters can set you
sweating even in a snow area. I live on a Mountian and my next door
neihbor has on on his porch. I have sat under it in a few feet of snow
and been "cozy". I haven't used or been around the Mr. Heater ones
that are designed to be used ontop of the larger tanks.

My Black Cats really don't do much outdoors unless you set them
directly under your chair (Dangerous) or you sit right in front of
them. The heat disipates pretty fast.

Wow, where at in Or? I climbed Mt St. Helens in Feb.
Look at Tractor Supply website, I saw some real nice outdoor (or warehouse
type heaters there.
