Are cheap ceramic water filters any good?

Not certain that I would call the MSR cheap. First Needs @ $50.00 or
the Sweetwater @ $50.00 are inexpensive. There are "filters" @ about
$25.00--those are cheap. Does anyone have any comments on the filters
that are less than the First Need or Sweetwater?

I use a First Need and it works fine, if! If, the water is not too
silty. Two days in Quetico Provincial Park clogged-up a new filter. A
week on the AT with the same people did not clog-up a new filter. By
the way, I assume that you-all realize that "clear" and "silty" are not
the same thing. Quetico has very clear water. :-)
