If I lived within a thousand feet, i'd bore a hole into it for
airconditioning.

If I had a lifestyle that allowed for yearly trips to Pennsic
(I've been a total of once), I'd go for that. As it is, limited
funds, limited time, and the intervening Rocky Mountains* make it
hard for Westies to get to Pennsic very often.
Back when Sir Hilary of Serendip was Steward, she went to Pennsic
every year. She would pack four duffel bags: one for her armour,
one for her tent fabric, one for her collapsible tent poles, and
one for everything else, and she'd get them onto the plane
somehow. Of course, this was back in the Good Old Days when we
had a Steward and when flying with baggage was a lot cheaper.

*Old old cartoon, maybe from the New Yorker, maybe 1950s. Man
and woman are driving westward across the Great Plains, and these
huge mountains loom up ahead of them. "Good heavens," the woman
says. "No wonder everything is slightly higher west of them."

Yes, it was good that I met her to discuss things, and she came across
rather well.
Speaking of trailers, has everybody heard that the Viking Stave Church
is for sale? I consider it one of the top sights to see at Pennsic,
and it really is cooler inside due to the clever multi-roof airflow
construction.
I like to think any of the SCA subgroups that want to promote itself
should consider taking it on. It is officially a merchant stall, but
has been used for weddings and vigils and such, even for church
services.
It will take a bit of organizing to use; perhaps someone with a
monster pickup truck to tow it, and a couple of guys who can make
repairs, and of course renting trailer space from the Coopers.

Unless this person (people) have, in addition to a monster pickup
truck and a crew of volunteers, a place to park it between Pennsics.
When was the church built? The only time I got to Pennsic was in
1992, and I don't remember it.

Kithrup's all spammy and hotmail's been hacked.
The stave church is 18 years old, so I can sympathize with master John
for thinking it's time to hand it off. Unlike the many old camper
trailers used at pennsic, this was pretty much built from the ground
up as a pennsic movable building. It is unsprung and can only go about
2 miles an hour, as well as being too wide and tall for the road. If
it is used at all, it will be parked locally. I suppose some folks
have talked about burning it down as an amusement, but I hope they
take the plastic roofing and windows out first.
There used to be an organization to look at the interesting pennsic
construction, but I suppose it has faded away.
