Well, now I'm really confused. I've received many replies, both on the Rialto
and through email, and there have been two views.
One: anyone has the right to know what their local branch has been up to,
status-wise, and being denied access was either through ignorance of the rules
or a power play.
Two: Officers can decide who sees information, and have the right to ask why
the member wants to see the information, and can deny access to the reports
if they want to.
OK. Clarification time. I've talked to the officers in question, and they were
working under the *assumption* that the information was private. I've received
email from a few higher ups (ie kingdom seneschals) who have said that they
were mistaken, anyone can see the reports. So far as I know, no one told our
officers whether the reports were private or not, and the ones who didn't let
me see it *were* novice officers, so it was probably simple ignorance.
Again, so far as I know, there were not lists of people's names, addresses,
phone numbers, etc, as one person has suggested. What I did get the briefest
of peaks at was a handwritten report on a legal pad describing our groups
plans for the new year, etc. I don't see why such information could be
"classified."
Are there any written rules about this somewhere that some of the higher-ups
could find and post here?
Thank you,
