The site has a lot of messed up links -- click one thumbnail and get an
entirely different pic.

Aside from blatant age and shape discrimination, it seems like an OK site so
far as one can tell from a very brief visit.

Thanks for you approval that Euro Naturist seems "like an OK site"

However, your criticisms are grossly unfair:

We DO NOT have "a lot of messed up links". I have checked all the
thumbnails and they are all correct. I can only suggest that either the
computer you use, or your ISP has an old version of the page or pictures
in its cache (because someone else had viewed the site) and that you were
viewing that. The December 2003 gallery was only updated yesterday. There
may be the odd broken link to external sites on pages that have not been
recently updated.

We DO NOT practice "blatant age and shape discrimination". We state on the
site that naturists come in all ages and shapes and we do have some
pictures of naturists of different sizes, ages, shapes and colours. The
real problem is that most people who deviate from the popularly conceived
'ideal body' do not their want nude photos to appear on a web site. We have
a message on the main page requesting pictures of all ages and shapes, but
most of the ones we get are the 'glamour' types. So send us your pictures
of well padded, cuddly, bbw, scarred, overweight, skinny, old, ugly or
wrinkly naturists and we'll use them!

That's not to say that we think it's wrong to admire young well formed
beautiful and glamorous bodies and we'll keep showing them! But, unlike many
sites, we do try to give a more varied and balanced picture, but it's the
lack of available pictures that impedes this.

I'll confirm what euronaturist is saying. I wanted to have pictures of
nude or costumed people at the beach on the Red White and Blue website.
However, I could only get the permission of the most comely young women.
I decided to forgo that part of the photo album if it was primarily
going to contain photographs of women. I'm hoping that next summer I'll
get permission to post their photos when guests realize that I'm not
exploiting them or sensationalizing them.

Hey, I'm a cheerful, positive person who seeks to encourage others as much as I
honestly can.

Before posting your denial, you corrected the messed up links in the December
2003 section. You also deleted some of the more blatantly cheesecake pics, and
added some pics of older people.

I'm pleased that you responded constructively to my 100% accurate remarks. I'm
disappointed that you seek to conceal what you did.

>We DO NOT practice "blatant age and shape discrimination". We state on the
>site that naturists come in all ages and shapes and we do have some

As I said, the changes you made before posting your denial were changes for the
better. I appreciate your responsiveness.

Nevertheless, even now, there are no people of weight, people of color, or
people beyond middle age in your December 2003 offering. I've spent a lot of
time on European beaches. Your pics are NOT representative of the people one
sees there.

>The
>real problem is that most people who deviate from the popularly conceived

That reminds me of what some companies tell the EEOC:

"IT'S NOT OUR FAULT! BOO-HOO! We'd love to hire blacks, latinos, women, and
such, but none of them ever apply. IT'S NOT OUR FAULT! BOO-HOO! IT'S ALL
*THEIR* FAULT! BOO-HOO! WE CAN'T HELP IT! BOO-HOO! IT'S ALL *THEIR* FAULT!
BOO-HOO!"

The answer, my friend, is FIRST to stop whining, and SECOND to go out and find
the pics you say you want.

>So send us your pictures
>of well padded, cuddly, bbw, scarred, overweight, skinny, old, ugly or
>wrinkly naturists and we'll use them!

Sorry, I'm not European and don't have pics of European nudists.

As a matter of fact, I have darn few pics of American nudists. To me, nudism
is about living nude. It's not about taking or viewing pics of nude people.

>That's not to say that we think it's wrong to admire young well formed
>beautiful and glamorous bodies and we'll keep showing them!

Ah ha!

Is it admiration of young well formed beautiful and glamorous bodies that you
intend? Or is your goal the one you state in the first paragraph of your site:
"Our aim is to promote the naturist/nudist lifestyle through information and
pictures and to provide a complete resource for European naturists and
nudists."

I haven't looked at anything beyond your December 2003 pics, but I don't see
how those pics "promote" nudism. They don't show nudists doing the things that
nudists do. Instead, almost all of those pics are very carefully posed shots
of the kind that would be starlets send to producers and directors.

>But, unlike many
>sites, we do try to give a more varied and balanced picture, but it's the
>lack of available pictures that impedes this.

I suggest a lot less excuses combined with a lot more effort to truly be what
you claim to be.

Stop whining. Stop the phony denials. Get honest. Work harder. Work
smarter.

If you can get rid of that TERRIBLY annoying pop-up box that says

"Thank you for visiting
EuroNaturist.com
Do visit us again soon!
Click below to vote for us and find more great naturist sites"

It will help your site to just live with the vote box on the left and
eliminate that pop-up....

The photographs on your site seem VERY low-resolution/poor quality (very
pixelated) photos. You may want to expand your bandwidth and go for nicer
photography. Some look like scans out of magazines....

When you posted the comments about messed up links, I did not accuse you of
being a liar, but tried to think of a rational explanation for your
experience. As I wrote previously, web browsers and some ISPs do use caching
to store local copies of pictures and pages to save having to go to the web
server each time they are viewed. I suspect that you were actually viewing
November's thumbnails and December's pictures, or vice versa. Pressing
refresh on your browser will cause pages/pictures to be reloaded to your
computer, but you cannot be sure what your ISP is doing. I'd be interested
to hear from anyone else who has experienced this.

I find it very sad that you so easily accuse me of being a liar and
changing the site before I posted my reply. All I can say is that I did not.
Had I done this, wouldn't I have used pictures that would prevent your
further criticism? I suggest that you are now looking for excuses to
justify your hasty and inaccurate criticisms.

The purpose of the monthly gallery is to ensure that we have some new
content each month and we don't claim it is representative, but we do try to
include some variety. The woman hiker has a BMI of over 25, and is therefore
technically overweight. There are also some pictures with people who are at
least approaching the top end of 'middle age'. Pregnant naturist women are
rarely shown on other sites, but are frequently found on beaches. We do
have more variation in our "Photo Gallery", but even that is far from what
we would like to achieve (for the reasons stated previously).

Europe is not a single country, but a continent and there are wide
variations (just like the USA and Mexico, who share the same continent). In
the UK, many naturists tend to be middle age (and their children) or older.
In Germany, the Netherlands and France a lot more younger people also go to
nude beaches. Interesting, most of our pictures of larger women are
Germans; probably the country where nudity is most socially acceptable.

Naturism/nudism means different things to different people and I can accept
that. For me it is primarily about being free of clothes and in my natural
(normal) state. I've seen thousands of nude bodies of all types and I still
find there is something very attractive about being nude and I see nothing
wrong in admiring nude bodies.

Promotiong naturism is also about breaking the irational taboos of a society
which tell us our genitals are dirty and shameful and to be kept private; it
is about promoting acceptance of our natural state. Also, I don't think we
can ingnore the erotic appeal of naturism (as some try to), that's part of
our human nature and perfectly "natural".

If we are being accused of using sex appeal to promote naturism, then we are
probably guilty, but for many naturists that's also part of the appeal of
naturism (true for women as well as men!). Lets face it, many people on this
group got into naturism through reading those 50/60/70s naturist magazines
with their 'girly' pictures. Our pictures try to show that social nudity
can be a fun and an enjoyable thing; if we sometimes use contrived and
artificial picures to do this, that is how real-world marketing works! We
also use links to glamour nude pay sites to cover our expenses. If many
visitors just come to look at the pictures and we get commission from them
buying subscriptions to these sites, that's fine.

We do try (maybe not hard enough) to communicate that naturism is not just
for the beautiful and glamorous, but for everyone and that it involves
accepting ourselves and others as we are. We also get emails from people
who have become naturists through looking at our site, and that's our real
purpose. We also get emails from people commending us for the variety of
ages, shapes and races in our pictures.

<cut>
> Work harder. Work smarter.
Popular slogans, but some real-world concrete suggestions would have been
more helpful!

It is not my intention to enter into debate about these issues. They've been
debated to death on this, and other groups. I merely wanted to correct what
I still believe was an very unjust criticism of our site. I'll leave you to
reply and have the final word, if you so desire.

Thanks for you comments. We get a lot of our traffic via our ratings from
the voting, so we are reluctant to get rid of that pop-up box.

The appearance of the pictures will depend on your monitor type and the
resolution at which you have your computer configured. We have to compromise
quality against download time, remembering that many people still use slow
dial-up connections. We use software that optimizes the pictures for this,
and sometimes it results in visible pixelation. Some of the pictures are not
good qualty to start with.

We think that our quality is as good as or better than most sites,
including some pay-sites. We are a free site and bandwidth is expensive,
also th download time would be unacceptable to many. If you could send us a
list of some of the pictures that look particulary bad on your computer with
your monitor type and screen resolution, we will see what we can do to
improve things.
