I prefer not to get flamed for my story, no matter what, because I do know I'm
not the greatest person here to many, but I want to get a thread started for
people:

I've only been to 2 nudist resorts since starting because I either haven't had
the time or money, plus it's back to school time and there aren't a lot of
people there.

After visiting Turtle Lake Resort in Union City, MI, I decided to try one
called Cherry Lane in North Adams, MI. I should have consulted people here or
wherever before going here, because I did not know that it was mainly a
swinger's resort, and that he was NOT affiliated with anyone (AANR, TNS, MSA,
etc. etc.). I paid my money, but then I looked around and those few who WERE
there were CLOTHED!!! I started to not feel comfortable even being there, and
after 20 minutes (repeat: 20 MINUTES!!!!), I tried getting my money back. He
wouldn't because "I already utilized the park" and "what did I expect here?"
Well I AM experimenting with it to start and was hoping for there to me at
least more people there and for them to be naked, plus I was also hoping to see
families there, just to see how they act in this enviroment, since it is a new
experience for me. After leaving his office, I have this feeling that he was
talking about me and looking at me or something, so I ended up putting my
clothes back on and walking around for about another 30 minutes, then leaving.
The guy, who's name is Dennis Bevis, is a total asshole, and I think he's
trying to hide the place from the feds, because they say "Hello." instead of
"Cherry Lane Nudist Resort" when picking up the phone. I feel like such shit
for ever going there, and it almost makes a person (even of one who is of
normal recreation nude) never want to go nude ever again!!!
Actually I finally talked to his wife Denise. Although I still didn't get
anywhere in getting money back, she was more down-to-earth with me, especially
when I told her my case, but she did tell me that even TOURS aren't free. Just
by coming through the gate, I owe $30. That's BULLSHIT there. Tours should be
free (they are at most nudist resorts I know of) for the newcomer if they want
to tour the place.

I apologize for the swearing here and there, but I feel it was necessary for
understanding and emphasis of the problem. Anybody else have any problems with
this place or with any other places in the past. Post them or e-mail me, and
PUH-LEEZE no flames, ok? If you don't like twhat I wrote, just please don't
answer.

I note that you apologised for your language. I offer below some alternaive
phrasings, just to show that vulgarity is not necessarily the best way to express
emotional responses.

That's absolute nonsense.That's ridiculous.

Actually, you should take lessons from my daughter. She once spent about two
minutes dissecting a guy who had been obnoxious, used no bad langauge, and in fact
produced a very accurate character analysis - it seemed to be quite extemporaneous,
too, so I was quite impressed. It calmed her down, too - the combination of the
intellectual exercise and the satisfaction of a skillful character dismemberment
well done does wonders for the state of mind.

Not intended as a flame, OK. My sympathies for the unpleasant experience. Chalk
it up to experience, now that you've blown off steam ...

Oooops!

"Cherry Lane" may call itself a nudist park, but I would never call it
that. As you said, it's a swingers' camp.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Thanks. It's ok. I was the stupid one here. The problem is that one person
who I was talking to told me it was like that AFTER I got back and wasted my
$30.

It's ok. I will probably return to Turtle Lake next summer, plus I'm going to
Oregon for a week or so to check out all the nudist places there, i.e. Rooster
Rock State Park, etc.

What did you think of Turtle Lake?

I liked it there. There was much more to do there, plus it's more of a
friendly atmosphere, plus being certified by AANR and all that, I can trust
them from now on, and I may just return there next summer.

I'm curious where the information about Cherry Lane came from. While we've
never visited the place (the grounds.look pretty run-down from the road), we do
live near the area (and in MI there really aren't many alternatives) and have
considered visiting it. From what I've been told by individuals who have
visited it, it's reasonably primitive, has no "resort" type features, but is a
very traditional nudist club. Since my wife and I are used to less developed
clubs (we originally became nudists after a visit to such a club--Tan Oaks--in
California almost 20 years ago), although we prefer resorts (obviously), the
idea of a club in easy driving distance is a definite attraction. If, however,
it's a swingers club (VERY odd in this part of Michigan) we'd just as soon pass
on it.

If anyone has visited the club and formed a different opinion than the one in
the message that began this thread--or has any definite information on the
nature/features/costs of the club, it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Why rely on hearsay? Call the owners and ask them outright.
If they give you satisfactory replies, then go and
visit the club to verify statements given.

There are no swingers who would arm wrestle
someone to the ground to make them participate.

You can get the owners to waive the first time
fees so that you can make an appropriate decision.

I have no direct experience with Cherry Lane, so you may wish to
ignore me. However, I have found that they are NOT affiliated with
any major nudist organization known to me. This includes:

AANR and its regional affiliate in the area, MSA
International Naturist Federation
The Naturist Society
National Nudist Coucil
J C Cunningham's Christian nudist group

In addition, friends who know about other non-affiliated clubs in
northern Indiana, northern Ohio and southern Michigan have never heard
of this club. Therefore, I am suspicious. When you contact them, ask
about AANR or TNS -- if they are not aware of them or talk down about
either organization, be suspicious.

Well I am not throwing as much of a fit as I had when this started, but I was
very informed AFTER my disasterous visit there that it was a very bad place,
from nudist...@hotmail.com and from Turtle Lake Resort (or course that's to
drum their business up for the next time). however, Turtle Lake is a VERY good
place to visit, and would consider returning to them soon enough. You should
too. :-)

I have been to many nudists resorts over the last 20 years and I found just the opposite and very positive experience at Cherry Lane. It is hard to fathom that you did not know it was a swingers club. Just google Cherry Lane Nudist. The people were extremely friendly and not at all pushy or overt. Both times I attended there was a volleyball tournament so perhaps that is why there were more people. The facilities are neat and clean and pool warm and clean as well. You do not have to be a swinger to enjoy the experience. Nude or clothed is always an option at most nudists resorts. If too cold or too sunny textiles are in order. I am not a swinger but I enjoyed it so much that I am going again next weekend. I would suggest going again when there is an event and I'll bet you will enjoy the experience.
