: MTV's Top 100 countdown of 1994

Interesting... when I saw the countdown, they started at #90. Does anyone
know why? Did they play these first ten in another airing (like the one
on New Year's Eve)?

Gad, does the world have no taste anymore? Lame song, boring video.
Where was TOOL??? Their videos are THE most original, creative, bizarre,
mind-enhancing, awe inspiring of all!!!
As Beavis would say, "These videos suck!"
Actually, I liked the Green Day video. Don't know about it being number
one. I agree with the Tool videos. The first time I ever heard Prison Sex
was when I saw the video. I watched it entralled. Look at most of the
videos that were on here. Big Mountain..what?? Most of these videos were
boring. They should choose them on what the video looks like, not the
song attached.

oh my god! nine inch nails closer isn't even on the list?! it's both
exhausting and questionable.. the video that helped pump nin into the near
mainstream isn't in the top 100 when all mtv did was exploit it every hour
and include it in 3 buzz bins? geez.. latre..

: MTV's Top 100 countdown of 1994
Did they judge the songs or the videos? If the latter is the case,
how come Sabotage reach only #15, and three Unplugged videos make
the chart?
: 97 Blind Man/Aerosmith
Shouldn't that Marty Callner dude be, like, put somewhere there are
no filming facilities in? I mean, once it worked, and twice but now
everyone's just sick of his videos...
: 94 Hero/Mariah Carey
Great video... tremendous camera work... NOT! How come videos that
are not actually videos be in top 100?
: 88 Heaven 'n Hell/Salt-n-Pepa
Is it, like, really S'n'P video? Not some other girls? I mean, there
are no butts or boobies...
: 81 You want this/Janet Jackson
no... not really... not at all, in fact
: 79 Buddy Holly/Weezer
Isn't the idea totally stolen from Nirvana/Kerslake's 'In Bloom'?
: 67 Mother '93/Danzig
Another live performance! What's wrong with this list?
: 63 You know how we do it/Ice Cube
yep... you, like, take all the crap videos, and put them ahead of
all the cool stuff...
: 60 So much in love/All-4-one
Show me the guy who thinks that the video showing four dudes (ugly
ones!) sitting on stairs and crying deserves to be among the best
of 1994, higher that 'Low' and 'Sure Shot'! He must have some kind
of problem...
: 55 Cannonball/The Breeders
Is it, like, from the summer of 1993?
: 53 Creep/Stone Temple Pilots
and this one too?..
: 46 cantaloop/US3
and this is from 1992... but who cares?
: 39 Always/Bon Jovi
: 26 Crazy/Aerosmith
: 10 Aerosmith/Amazing
Marty C. strikes again... and again... man, you're old, retire!
: 35 Without you/Mariah Carey
: 33 About a Girl(Unplugged)/Nirvana
: 12 Big Empty(Unplugged)/Stone Temple Pilots
: 7 All Apologies(From MTV unplugged)/Nirvana
live performances...
: 25 Loser/Beck
What does he wear on his head in the beginning, that thing they
never show? what is it?
: 24 None of your business/Salt-n-Pepa
Now i recognize'em...
: 17 Any time, Any place/Janet Jackson
...and her...
: 21 Murder was the case/Snoop Doggy Dogg
i wish it was...

I always thought Beck was making fun of MTV's censorship of corporate
logos, etc. by simply "wearing" a censored-squiggles hat. I could be
wrong, but...

In my opinion, the very best video was produced by the ultimate Beastie
Boys with their "SABOTAGE". Boy, never seen anything like this!
The Top of the Pops!! Really...
See ya

the song does start to get boring after a while, but the video is pretty cool.
i think the longview & when i come around (NOT at woodstock) videos are better,
tho.

This reminds me of some zipperhead I heard ranting recently, quote "I'm a
big fan of alternative music, mainly Pearl Jam".
At least Beavis & Butthead haven't sold out (they still love GWAR).
A friend and I once speculated on exactly what you'd have to do to society
in order to make GWAR mainstream. Whether it could be done through a media
and advertising campaign alone, or whether it would require natural disaster
or the onset of total and inescapable social anarchy wasn't clear. That
colostomy bag stuff is phenomenal....

MY GOAL IN LIFE FOR THIS FALL: Acquire the long-awaited Tokyo Marui
remote-controlled Godzilla (from GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE) toy... to be
available in Japan in December. It will cost Y49,800. Very expensive.

As a GWAR sycophant and worshipper of Oderus Urungus (my .org
line refers to him, in fact) I really don't think GWAR is too far from
mainstream success. I mean, content aside... Their music is GOOD,
original, and they give shows that are tough to top (maybe Thrill Kill
Kult? Maybe Lords of Acid? Only if GWAR was having a really bad night...
which I'm not sure they ever do).
I'm waiting... I think we're gonna see people start to appreciate
GWAR not just as "that sick band" but as the geniuses (in my opinion,
obviously) that they actually are. GWAR is the one band that could handle
mainstream success without selling out. (See the Skulhedface video).

GWAR's music is truly great. . most people, when the word "GWAR" comes
up, immediately think of either "Who?" or "they suck". . but then, once
I've played either "Have You Seen Me?" "Saddam A-Go-Go" or "The Insidious
Soliloquy of Skulhed Face", almost everyone has to admit that they're
extremely creative, and, usually, *good*. :) I don't know what I'd do
without GWAR :)

And is there any possible way *to* see the Skulhed Face video? I
seriously doubt MTV would have played it, even if Headbanger's Ball were
still on the air.
