I have a lim ed art print of Tori Amos for sale. It's drawn by an
artist famous for his 60's posters of janis Joplin and the Grateful
Dead. He has given me a few copies and I'm selling off alll but one (I
have to keep one at least :-)) They will be worth a lot more than $20
someday. Tori has two of them herself, one she gave to her mother :-)
Please e-mail me if you would like me to reserve one for you. i can
send them as a gift to a friend if you like (wrapped in gift paper
:-)) I also have (for the same money (plus shipping) by the same
artist

visga...@aol.com (Ali) had this to say:
[snipped the picture]
Please *please* do not post binaries {pictures, soundfiles, etc} to
newsgroups. Why?
1) It's against the charter of *any* newsgroup not in the
alt.binaries.* hierarchy to post binaries.
2) A 'bot comes around and cleans up bins that are posted to non-bin
newsgroups, so your intended audience probably won't see it anyway.
3) Binaries take up *huge* amounts of space. Most binary newsgroups
are on a 3 day expire for this reason. Were it not for the 'bot, you
would have just consigned system administrators around the world to
waste that much space.
4) Some folks are unlucky enough to get this newsgroup *by mail*.
rmta currently is producing around 200 articles a day. That's a lot
of traffic, and to add in a binary file . . . that's a lot. Even if
it doesn't crash their mailbox {and it's quite likely that something
like this will}, it could cause them to be over their alloted disk
space.
5) Some folks are also unlucky enough to have to pay for their
Internet access time by the minute. You just consigned those people
to a pretty hefty charge due to your picture.
'But I have this picture I want to share, what do I do?'
1) Post it to alt.binaries.tori-amos. Yes, there's a Tori bin group!
Then post a short note here saying "you can see what this art print
looks like if you look in abta".
2) Put it on a webpage somewhere, and post a short pointer to it here.
3) Ask one of the folks who runs a Tori page {and there's a lot!} if
they'll provide a home for your picture.
4) Post a short note here saying that you have this, and email it to
anyone who's interested.
But please don't post a binary here.
