I couldn't find anything on the internet about The Party with a Google
search. Of the twelve names listed on the box, only two are on the
Internet Movie Database: one of the actors, Mark Derwin, and the
Director of Photography Sandra Chandler. There's no synopsis on back
of the box, just four pictures with four captions: "Looking for a
Little Fun?", "The Magic of Mischief", "Out of this World Fantasies",
"The Final Engagement."
The cover is black, and the tagline is "There's No Escaping..." and the
title "The Party" is in red. The plot is that a rich Texan living in
California gets engaged, and his fiance has a bachelorette party.
That's it. Not horror at all. The horror. The horror. Indeed!
I watched the credits closely, so that I could submit them to the IMDb
(it will take a while for them to show up). Towards the end were the
soundtrack credits:
"Rockin' Days"
Written by Janie Cribbs
Produced and arranged by Patrick Hubbard
"Love Light"
Written, produced and arranged by Lester Abrams
"Nothing Like a Man"
Performed and arranged by Rugburns
Written by Cindy Marble and Tori Amos
An internet search informed me that "Nothing Like a Man" was an
unpublished Tori Amos song copyrighted in 1987

Rugburns was Cindy Marble's band.

The Rugburns were Steve Poltz's band. You can probably write to him and
ask. http://www.poltz.com/, the band consisted of three guys.

Thanks for replying. Perhaps you're right, or perhaps that's a
different band with the same name? I was going off the information here
<http://home.earthlink.net/~corycohn/corystry/corystry.htm> and here
<http://www.yessaid.com/timeline6.html> that Cindy Marble was the lead
singer in an LA band named Rugburns. Cory Lombardelli was also a member
per the former.
I'll repost my original message below in this message, since I hadn't
known about the threadmarkers so perhaps people missed it if they have
filters. I have added one now, the appropriate one, I hope.
Not too long ago, I bought a video titled "The Party" at a store that
was unloading a lot of its VHS tapes. I'd never heard of it, or the
director C.J. Leverton. The store had put a "Horror" sticker on it,
though it turned out not to belong to the horror genre at all.

There might be a hold up in having the title appear on the IMDb, because
I got an e-mail from them saying they can't confirm the existance of the
title and asked me for a URL of a page with information about it. As if
there is a webpage of some kind for every movie ever made! I'll have to
find out on their Contributors Help board what other options there might be.
