please - that's not even close to true. Creed suck because their music is
crap, or so I think - obviously lots of people think differently or they
wouldn't have sold millions of albums. Jessica Simpson sucks because, well,
see my post below. It's just a downright bad idea to lump an entire group of
people together like Christians the way you do. I can think of two regulars
on this ng alone who prove you completely wrong.

that comment to make people mad and see if a bunch of jesus lovers would
attack me.
I have nothing against christianity except when people try to tell ME what
to believe and worship. And I don't like bands like creed and dumb
singers like jessica simpson who have influence on what kids do spreading
their christian morals around. i guess it's better than teaching kids to
do drugs, but not much better.

and for the record, i'm agnostic myself. i do not hold a favorable
opinion of christianity or for any organized religion but what you set
out to do was cruel and i'm having a hard time understanding why

Ever heard "Higher"? if that's not christian rock, well then make me
listen to Jars of Clay till my ears bleed (should only take about three
tracks). and anyways, the singer from Creed...sheesh.....have you seen the
Messiah-poses he does in all their videos? it's a shame that they suck so bad,
really, because he does have a nice powerful voice *sigh*
Jessica Simpson, I really can't speak for, because I can't keep track of
all the teen-queen-bimbos flouncing around nowadays. It reminds me of the
mid-90's, trying to keep track of Sarah McLachlan, Mae Moore (sp?), Jewel, Tori
(who i hadn't discovered yet), Jane Sibbery, and that whole crew. it was just
wispy track after wispy track on alternative radio, way too confusing for my
then rage against the machine headbanging self.
as the Christians say, "This too shall pass"....let's all cross ourselves
and say a little prayer that Britney will be the next Aretha and the Backstreet
Boys will all fade away soon, except in Japan, where they'll all make solo
albums and tour together until they're old and senile.

are you sure you're not confusing a christian with someone who just
thinks he's the Almighty? ;)
from what i hear, he does think very highly of himself. and it is a
shame, he does have a very good voice. as for their music, i dont
*hate* it, as in, i dotn shudder when i hear it, and i dont
immediately reach for the dial when the songs come on, but... i dont
like it either, really. there's just nothing there, y'know? oh well.

Actually a LOT of lead singers strike that pose. I actually see very few
Christian artists do it, but a LOT of secular artists do.

Obviously, YMMV. It sounds like impacted adenoids to me.
Personally, I'll be glad when the ghost of Layne Stayley stops casting
its long shadow over the legions of hard-rawkers who've been singing
through their noses for the last decade...
FWIW, in the interviews with Creed I've read in _Guitar World_, wossname
(the singer) has refused to identify as a Christian.
Personally, I think he just likes the agonistical props...

Oh, yeah, they are. I think that "Higher" clinched it for me on that
one...because before that song I only listened to them when forced.
OTOH, I -do- like this band called dcTalk - I got hooked on this catchy pop
tune in 98 and bought the album and besides being a little too preachy for
me, they are goooood.

Um, there's no way in hell this will happen. Have you ever
heard Aretha Franklin when she was in her teens? She had a
soul-shaking voice even back then. Britney just has a mediocre voice
as far as pop singers go, but she's a talented entertainer and I'm sure
she'll have a decent-length career if she doesn't decide to rest on
her laurels and go back to the real world. I still think that
Britney Spears' future is in acting and being a multi-faceted
entertainer, once the teen fad starts to fade in the music industry.
As far as musicianship goes, Christian Aguilera is the only
blondette that has really shown me diva potential. Everybody else has
just been cute and mediocre and overexposed. I think that Jessica
Simpson, Mandy Moore, Hoku, and the rest of those singers are proof
that human cloning was actually perfected in the early 80's.

Well, she does crap like that, but she also has a legitimately
strong voice. She doesn't need to be overprocessed in concerts or
recordings like Britney Spears and she has some actual dynamics and
ad-libbing when she sings. Christina's not just a factory puppet who
has to do everything the same way each time while struggling to hit
her notes. Of course, she's still got ways to go before she ends up
being a real artist, but she at least has the vocal tools and maybe
some of the instinct to become a real artist. Unlike most of the
young one-hit-wonder singers out there, I can see her having a career
when she's 30. Do you think anybody is going to know who Jessica
Simpson or Mandy Moore is 10 years from now? (Hell, how many people
know who they are right now?)
In other words, I think Christian Aguilera could have all of
the musical importance and impact of a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. ;)

Right on. Korenstopher genuinely enjoys Ms. Aguilera's voice. Much
more than her music, actually. Most of her album is crap, but it's crap
sung well. And I can only hope that as she gets older (and hopefully

i will say one thing about miss aguilera: she can fucking sing. she
does not use back up tapes; when she sings, it's the real deal. she
was incredible on jay leno a few weeks ago. i wish she could sing when
she's in conversation, though. when she articulates, she goes down
hill.
