It was consensual.  If you read the posts you'd see those kids were
coming on to ME.  The camp had an open door policy and I wasn't about
to discourage them.  You won't find a judge in the country who
wouldn't toss that case out on its own merits!  It's really not
surprising because I am AWL that matters! -Scot Lifshine Sat, Sep 30 2006

I'm doing my Ph.D. in music theory at U. Penn, focusing on the historical
development of style and aesthetics in contemporary Cuban pianism.

Trolls invaded, and changed their From lines sufficiently often that
killfiles were inadequate. I never thought I'd long for the days of
Albert Silverman endlessly tilting against the Ancient Theorist's
windmills.

I long for the days of Nuclear Warrior and the California Jam Wereo. I am
the only one who matters in music.

Hello, and r.m.t used to have some good discussion IMO from lots of
erudite folks (Dr. Matt, LJS, Margo Schulter, Joey G. et al) but not
much within the last several years. Topics included tuning/temperament,
rhythm, chord structure and progression, consonance/dissonance and lots
of other thought provoking stuff. There was often strong differences of
opinion but it usually stayed on topic. Sincerely, and longing for the
old days (but not necessary the man from wonderland),

Looking for an update. Is anyone STILL here? I got emails from the group and I saw a few names. It would be nice to see what has been happening since we got flooded out with all the spam or what ever.

Hu, LJ! I'm still here but things seem to have been relatively dormant
on r.m.t for 2014. Margo S. has been gone for an eternity. Perhaps
Joey G. is still lurking. Boy, do I long for the way this ng was 10-15
years ago (I'm no spring chicken). Maybe some folks have joined
you-know-who in "Wonderland" (and if you get the meaning you've been on
here for awhile). Sincerely,

I haven't posted for donkey's years, but I know it as a place of very smart musicians and great conversation about music theory. There were one or two flies in the ointment but that was ok.

I moved away from the UK to the US in 2005. I'm still trying to learn theory, so maybe I should start posting here again. :)

Hello, and some of us long-time users are still here! I, too, haven't
seen much from the "power" posters of a few years ago but that doesn't
mean they're still not watching. So, go ahead and post. Sincerely,

Hey, sent you an email from my personal account. I am having problems communicating on the group but I am still here and interested. Reply to this, but if I do not answer, that means I did not get your post! And I hope you will try again.

Hey, LJS here, please reply. If I don't answer, I did not get it. I would love to get a real music theory group happenin again, but communication has been problematical. I am willing to try to figure it out and get the discussions happening.

I don't know if anybody is still interested in restarting this group, but I've been reading through some of the old posts and have found them to be very helpful and interesting. I would be very interested in being part of this group id there are any other people who are still interested...

Hello, and I wouldn't do an RIP on r.m.t just yet. Some of us "old"
folks are still around and when interesting topics appear it'll most
likely prompt a discussion. I think there's a lot of lurkers out there
who'll jump in when motivated. Sincerely,
