I've always thought "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" was his best

I listened to it again & I do hear the similarity. Maybe my ears have
always been tainted since I knew a little bit about them from the start
& it's not a song I could picture Pitney doing, at least in that style.

have an original Soma label copy around somewhere) I always liked that
one (tho it never got UK release "Devil Or Angel" was his debut here).

I think "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" is the best of his hits and
another recording by him I always liked is "Someday" off the album he
did with the Crickets
