I still don't follow how "Pushin' too hard" and "Too much to dream"
are classed with '66 when they didn't peak until '67.
My stylistic taste in music is extremely broad -- to me, it's either
good or it's not, style is not a factor. So I can like a song by Jack
Jones and yet like "Talk talk", "Don't bring me down", "Pushin' too
hard", etc.,
There's plenty of Black music I liked from the '60s, but not much was
from that year. '67 or '68 I would've had far more.
What's wrong with "Let's go get stoned?" Isn't it Black enough for
you? Brilliant song and arrangement.
I'm actually not thrilled with the Jack Jones recording of "Impossible
dream", but it was the only hit version so I include for the sake of
the song rather than recording. The classic recording has yet to be
made.
BTW, "Love grows" is in my all-time top 10. Bubblegum or not, it's a
great song.

My lists are all done based on YEAR OF RELEASE. When they peaked is
not relevant to my personal favorites. I wasn't even aware of those
records then, didn;t start listening to the radio until 68, so why
would i list my favorites based on popularity that I wasn't even
around for?

Why , in your opinion, is there something wrong with being a "jack of
all trades, masters of none?" I am truly interested in your views on
this.
In the '50s and '60s my father could take his car to a gas station and
one auto mechanic would fix his radiator, change a bad tire, check the
car's engine, change a muffler? he was a jack of all trades, no? Perhaps
not a master of any, but capable of doing many jobs.
Today, each part of your car needs a computor diagnosis, and takes
several people ("specialists"?) to do any repairs, depending on what
they are.
I have said several times, i am truly respectful of your musical
knowldege in the genres of music you hold most dear, but why look down
on those who do not have the same passion for one specific kind of
music, but just like several types of music in general.

I like the pictures of the album covers that mark every song and he
pretty astutely sprinkles a healthy dose of the great country tunes of
the times in there!!
I mean, if it isn't a Hank Williams original or Hank Williams-derived
recording then Grossberg's rather narrow lists would be country free!!
I firmly believe if Tom Blumenthal had recorded "Settin the Woods on
Fire" in 1972 it would be #58 on Grossie's list of that year ,baby!
