Deep Purple, after the old standard
The Rolling Stones, after Muddy Waters' "Rolling Stone"
Linda Ronstadt's early band, the Stone Poneys, after Charley Patton's
"Stone Poney Blues"
Canned Heat, also from an old blues song
Everyday People, whom I've never heard of either but who put out the
next-to-last single on the Abnak label, after the Sly & The
Family Stone song
I also own (note: I didn't say I've listened to) an LP and a CD by a 90s
R&B singer who calls himself "Louie Louie".

Just a start...
The Rolling Stones, named after a Muddy Waters song
The Lovin' Spoonful, named after a Mississippi John Hurt song
Jo Jo Gunne, named after a Chuck Berry song
The Phenomonal Cats, named after a Kinks song
and there's The Mystery Trend (SF, 1966) named after a lyric from "Like a
Rolling Stone"

The Silhouettes ("Get A Job") were named after the song "Silhouettes" by the
Rays. Although both these songs were from 1957, the Silhouettes recorded
into the 60's, so this example belongs in the 60's group.

Nazareth, after the line, "I pulled into Nazareth," in "The Weight" by The Band. ("The
Weight" entered the Billboard chart at the tail end of 1969, so I feel it is OK to post
this here.) I got this information from Casey Kasem on one of his American Top 40
broadcasts in the 1970s.
And in the same segment of the alphabet, Nazz or The Nazz (don't remember the preferred
form), from a Yardbirds song called "The Nazz are Blue". I think this one is true, but
I may have read a conflicting piece of information right here in this newsgroup.
