- just one? well, the beatles' rain arguably doesn't have
it _in_ the title, as it *is* the title...

- there's going to be a lot of overlaps, but so far i've managed:

- coloured rain - traffic (and later, eric burdon & the animals)
purple rain - prince
(like) walking in the rain - the walker brothers, the ronnettes
who'll stop the rain? - credence clearwater revival
tell it to the rain - the four seasons
early morning rain - ian & sylvia, gordon lightfoot (& wrote it)
i've seen fire and i've seen rain - james taylor
lay down/candles in the rain - melanie & the edwin hawkins singers
rain on the roof - the lovin' spoonful
rain and tears - aphrodite's child
i'll do my crying in the rain - the everly brothers
farewell in the rain - the shoes
i remember the rain - bob lind
oh how i wish that it would rain - gladys knight (iirc)
it might as well rain until september - carol king
don't let the rain fall down (on me) - the critters
i do believe it's going to [gonna?] rain - ?
listen to the rhythm of the falling rain - the cascades [wb1 in uk]
i can stand a little rain - joe cocker
i can't stand the rain (tapping on my window) - ? gladys knight ?
flowers in the rain - the move [rz3001 & 1st single played on
bbc radio1 - and it's _still_ naff]
plus compounds of "rain":
flowers never bend with the rainfall - simon & garfunkel
rainmaker - traffic
i can sing a rainbow/love is blue (medley) - the dells
rainy day in june - the kinks
rainy day women #? & #? - bob dylan
rainy night in georgia - brook benton, gladys knight
rainbow chaser - nirvana [the real - island pink label - nirvana]
[- probably the most over-enthusiastcally phased single ever...]
rainy day people - gordon lightfoot
raindrops keep falling on my head - b.j. thomas [awful]
she's a rainbow - the rolling stones
raining in my heart - buddy holly (? and the crickets ?)

not sure about:
[raining in my heart (because there's nothing i can do to make
you love me) - didn't someone do this - am i misremembering?]
[rainman - ?]
[it never rains in (?south?) (?carolina? california?) - ??]

- and there's more left still in the head somewhere, i'm sure...

- love, ppint.

- ah, yes. thank-you. it was out one of the (many) times i had
little or no cash - iirc, i was working at derwent plastics or
at sam smiths, needing to pay off my end-of-degree-course over-
draft, at the time it came out - and i've never seen a record,
cassette or cd by her since. it's definitely one of the tracks
i still want; has she anything else that's half as good as this?

- ah, "pass." i've heard naught by him that i've ever wished
to hear a second time - nor, indeed, a first time, had i known
what i was about to suffer. and "Little Arrows" made the bbc
r1 (later r2) playlist here, too... *shudder*

- but thanks for reminding me of ann peebles.

AND LET US NOT FORGET, DUDE, that Jan & Dean (actually Dean since Jan
was recuperating from his tragic auto accident) released an ENTIRE ALBUM
of rain-related songs in 1966, the title of which was SAVE FOR A RAINY DAY.
