Maybe if you didn't have your nose buried in books, you'd be able to
answer some of my Soul trivia!!!!

Is that what it was. I thought my newsreader had gone a bit funny!
Wrong, my foot! You all go hide under your beds when I begin to ask Soul
music questions! :-)

What's your usual newsreader? You posted this with Thunderbird,
which has no problems rendering HTML.

There you go again, doing what you do best ... shucking, jiving,
sidestepping, and changing the subject when you don't have a
legitimate response to a post.

Just that one post, ... for the additional visual emphasis.
Yeah, gray, like your music mind!!!! :-)

Right now I am listening to "Begin The Beguine" by Charlie Parker, from
1952. Damn, is it mellow.
DianeE
Because it is now 2009 and bandwidth is both plentiful and cheap and no one
has ANY excuse for not having a newsgroup reader that is incapable of
handling HTML?
It worked fine on my machine. Are you still running Windows 2.0? Time to
upgrade, eh?
Diane is one of those anal-retentive types who wants everyone's UseNet in
dull black and white standard text.
Shows what a pussy you are. If I get my knuckles rapped, I BREAK the OP's
knuckles.
How are youn going to get to the OP? Have you perfected matter
transfer?, or have you been watching too much Star Trek? It would
definitely come in handy..
Mr. M
As I was told many years ago, it is a sign of ignorance to post HTML in
usenet. Spammers would take great pride doing it! Makes posted articles
bloated with HTML tags!!!
Uni

I do use dial-up, Mr. Sharx :-)
Not sure X-News reader can render HTML.
Uni
I question the plentiful and cheap bandwidth, but agree about HTML,
which has no real difference in size anyway, unless someone adds
pictures or other media, which I bet still isn't acceptable.
No, no! HTML tags make bloated posts! Most "pro" usenet readers don't do
HTML! Usenet was never meant for binary transmission, only 7 bit text!!!!

Hmmm. You must have some LONG, LONG downloading sessions.
Uploading a snippet is like uploading a box set!!!! :-)

Before 2003, I still had dial-up - tthose were the golden days of
Napster and also Audiogalaxy. I downloaded quite a lot from
Audiogalaxy. I couldn't download much of anything through Usenet back
then because it's quite a job downloading all the headers. The NZB
thing certainly would have helped, it helps a lot now because some of
the groups have over 1000000 headers.

No. There was no picture in that post. ;-)
> That's not very big.
Thank you, Actually, that post was made in both plain text and
HTML. That way HTML-capable readers display the rendered HTML and
non-HTML-capable readers display the plain text portion. Xnews, for
example, displays the post in plain text, and treats the HTML as an
attachment. Even posted in both formats the post was only about 4 1/2
KB in size. Uni wastes more bandwidth than that every day.
