Some refer to it as an "alternate version", but since there is no
definite recording date, other than 1970 (probably a guess), and no
master tape #, and since it's a crude mix, and since the music, lyrics
and vocals deviate too much from the hit version, I'd say this is the
Demo, possibly recorded in 1969...

It was popular with pre and tweens then and adult-Uni today. And other snip
from internet filesharer Uni.

And yet, because they were popular back then, there is a certain
nostalgia. I put them in the same class as Sergio Mendez and the Tijuana
Brass, acts that you couldn't miss back then because they were everywhere,
even if you weren't yet listening to the radio. Except when the music
has been overplayed on oldies stations, hearing such songs can invoke
memories of how you felt when you were hearing those songs for the
first time.

No, I wouldn't spend much on getting their albums, but I did buy that
cassette collection of Herb Alpert hits at a book sale a few months ago,
for all of a dollar. More than enough songs to satisfy my need to hear
the group.

And no, I sure wouldn't play it and play it again and again like I do with
music I really want, but I'm happy to have it around in case I get the
urge.

Given the choice between an 11-year old kid and adult music, I would
always opt for adult Mendes and The Brass. Jackson (to me) had an
unbearable squeel and ultra-silly songs. None of which I would touch
then or today - not even to reminisce. However if one thought Jackson
"great" back then then I can understand some adults reminiscing their
once young, living, and not yet weird idol. I own one CD from Mendes and
The Brass as compilations for 1 or 2 tracks I sorta like from each.
Neither was my kind of music either at the time, but was generally the
"lesser of two evils".
