Conway Twitty - "Bad Man"

Col Joye had an Australian hit with this Conway Twitty song in 1960, and I'm
wondering whether Conway Twitty recorded it before that, and whether it was
released or just remained a demo.

It's on a 1969 album "Darling You Know I Wouldn't Lie", and on a collection
from 1997, "The Rock'n'Roll Years", where it's listed as a demo.

I don't have either, so I can't check the liner notes, and my Net searches
aren't very helpful.

Maybe someone here knows the answer?

I have the Bear set of discs,the Conway Box set and the referenced LP.
Whenever Conway recorded Bad Man he did not release it prior to 1968. There
are no notes on the LP to discern when it was recorded.

Ironically, "Bad Girl," which was Side B, Cut 2 (following Bad Man) on the
"Darling You Know I Wouldn't Lie" album was released as a "B" side to the
single "I Love You More Today," which was the first single and title song of
his following album.

I'm thinking now that Col Joye or his record company probably got the song
straight from Twitty's publisher, rather than "covering" a Twitty release.
Whether or not they heard a Twitty demo of it is a matter of conjecture, I
guess!

I've just found a post that I missed here, from Don Fisk in 1998 saying,
"Conway wrote 'Bad Boy' for Col. At least
that's how... Col told the [story]" !!!
