Who is Waylon Jennings?

(Tho "When Sin Stops" which Vanable wrote was the B-side of "Jole
Blon")

That may also fit, but that's not who I am looking for. And the De Luxe Chanters were late 50s (57-59), not mid-50s (53-56).

CORRECT, "When Sin Stops" was the A side.

I guess you're going by the matrix number but both of us have been
doing this shit long enough to know that doesn't always work

It's the B side here:

He is obviously going by the vmatrix too

Bruce

What make you conclude that? Three records down he has an A&M single (Rave On) by Waylon with the higher matrix as the A side.

I can't see any other reason that he would make "Jole Blon" the
B-side. The fact that both BB and CB make it the "A" side as do the
online sources I quoted plus pretty well every Buddy Holly book or
artiucle I ever read absolutely clinches it for me

"Jole Blon" was the A-side

Bruce

I think on non hits at least that he makes the A side whichever side he thinks fits the site's mission better. So if one side is a ballad it's gonna be the B side unless it's some hit like "Endless Sleep." If that record had been a bomb that was kinda unknown he would list "Tight Capris" as the A side I think.

Here's a good example, the Rock-A-Teens. "Twangy" was the A side, but he's got "Doggone It Baby" as the A side as it rocks much more.

This is the first time I know the answer right off the bat. I'm sure
Dean and Roger have already gotten it, but I'm just going to chime in
anyhow. Who were the Turbans?

Brunswick considered "Jole Blon" to be the "A" side of the
record. Look at the labels.

<https://images.45cat.com/waylon-jennings-jole-blon-brunswick.jpg>

<https://images.45cat.com/waylon-jennings-when-sin-stops-brunswick.jpg>

Notice the little mark just to the right of the printed matrix number
on the "When Sin Stops" label. Decca and its subsidiaries used that
mark to identify what they considered to be the "B" sides of their
records.

I've seen this argument (and others like it) presented before. Like
most matrix theories it works most of the time but sadly not all the
time.

This one stops working when it makes "Peggy Sue" the B-side of the
Holly single :-(

Bruce

necitită,
25 sept. 2022, 01:11:5125.09.2022
I would think if a mark meant anything it would be the A side. Why mark the B side?
