Fair question Jim and I will answer: right in the ideal but wrong
in the practice!!
First of all, Fred never EVER let you know who the rights advocate
was!!! He also cloaked himself in the politically easy raiments of
the times wheher it was Betty Harris, Betty Levette, of old Black
Betty Bam da Lam !!!!!`
I mean.....where was Freddie Fairplay when Stan Polley was ripping
off Lou Christie and Badfinger directly causing the suicides of Pete
Ham and Tom Evans? Fred always came off as too much of an elitist punk
to be a truly altruistic force out there in society and his misogeny
was plainly exposed when he repeatedly jerked around Dianne on these
boards.
I didn't realize until the obituary that he had been married to
darling Teri only 14 years meaning that there are one or two ex wives
out there who got tired of his shit and skedaddled. It makes sense
now, with that Terri and her ditzy little "celebrating" book campaign
whose sales probably cost the ecosystem only two poplars and a small
shrub in pulp production. She was obviously a trophy wife clutching
to her atrophy husband for his lawyerly status and his supposed
exalted advocate status!!!!
So Jimmy, my answer is that Freddie was a fraud. He utilized the
advocate and victim zeitgeist of the time to present an outward
appearence of civic chivalry. He never really tilted against a
windmill in his life and it's a good thing. He would have choked on
the toxic hot air blowing back, baby!!!!
